Job description

Job Purpose

  • The Relationship Manager SBE will be responsible for driving business growth through quality lending, deposit mobilization, cross-selling of the bank’s products and services, and maintaining strong customer relationships while ensuring compliance with the bank’s credit policies, risk management standards, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, initiate, and manage strategic partnerships and collaborative relationships that drive business growth, enhance customer value, and expand the Bank’s market reach, while strengthening existing partnerships to maximize commercial opportunities, operational efficiency, and mutual value creation.
  • Developing suitable customer value propositions, product bundles and solutions applicable to the SBE in liaison with the branches, HOD Retail Banking and the Product Development team
  • Delivery of exceptional performance through the SBE team.
  • Proactive leading and directing relationship teams accountable for the portfolio of SBE customers.
  • While taking initiative in terms of business development activities and ensuring that quality business is retained, and high service standards are delivered by the team.
  • Demonstrating an intimate knowledge of the market and the competitor to inform market penetration, growth, and retention.
  • Making quick business decisions that balance risk, profitability and most importantly responsiveness to customer needs.
  • Reviewing performance of assigned Relationship Officers and/or Branch
  • Managers against SBE budgets for all assigned KPI targets.
  • Continually monitoring and following up with respective SBE Relationship Officers and/or Branch Managers to ensure that the set SBE targets are being achieved, and gaps adequately addressed.
  • Conducting regular customer visits to enhance relationship development and customer maintenance, as well as growth of the business wallet.
  • Monitoring quality of the loan book advances by reviewing arrears, account excesses and irregular accounts, among others.
  • Monitoring performance against set targets.
  • To perform any other duty as assigned in line with the Organizational goals and objectives.

Qualifications

  • University degree- Upper second class Honors
  • Relevant professional qualification in banking – AKIB/ACIB
  • 4 years’ experience in business development
  • Comprehensive knowledge of bank’s laid-down policies and procedures relating to all areas under control.
  • Knowledge of the Retail Banking value proposition.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Area sales and service strategies.
  • Must be self-driven; possess excellent administrative, communication and interpersonal skills, strong organization, and negotiation skills.
