In Malawi, MSF works in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and the local community in Cervical Cancer projects Blantyre districts.MSFF is looking for its Blantyre Cervical Cancer Project Office:MEDICAL DOCTOR 4B (Oncology Department) -1 POSITIONWorkplace          : BlantyreType of contract     : 12 Months Fixed Term ContractStart date           : November 2026Main purpose of the positionProvide outpatient and/or inpatient medical care to patients/beneficiaries according to adapted and updated medical knowledge, MSF protocols, values and universal hygiene standards to improve the patient’s/beneficiary’s health conditions.Main responsibilitiesApply medical knowledge and skills to diagnose and prevention. Carry out outpatient and inpatient consultations, prescribing the necessary treatment respecting MSFKeep the patient and/or his/her family informed about the illness and provide appropriate explanations about the treatment to follow, checking they have understood.Follow up the evolution of the hospitalized/IDP patients, through daily visits, consultations and examinations, prescribing the necessary treatment following MSF protocols, deciding whether they can be discharged or transferred to other departments – in collaboration with other doctors- and informing their family about the patient’s evolution.Check and control the rational distribution of medicines and equipment under his/her responsibility and take care the quality, disinfection and sterilization of the medical material. Assure general compliance with standing hygiene standards.Participate in the collection and analysis of epidemiological data, checking its validity and informing the line manager or project coordinator about any problem or complication of the patients’ illness, medical error and monitors the proper functioning of the department, equipment or material.Ensure ongoing training of the medical/paramedical multidisciplinary team in order to optimize the quality of care.Knows and ensures all MSF medical protocols are followed and implemented, checking universal precautions are followed at all times and reducing bio-hazard risks and improving infection control.Ensures professional confidentiality is respected.Manage the team under his/her direct responsibility according to MSF HR policies and procedures, supervising their performance, organizing and scheduling shifts and rotations, directly participating in emergencies and on calls if necessary.Specific accountabilities  1. Comprehensive Oncology Patient CareProvide comprehensive curative and palliative care to oncology patients in inpatient, outpatient, including assessment, treatment, monitoring, psychosocial screening, patient education, and follow-up.2. Preoperative, Surgical and Postoperative CareConduct preoperative assessments and obtain informed consent; booking patients for diferent procedures, daily ward rounds, and postoperative care in collaboration with surgeons, anaesthetists, nurses, and other clinical teams.3. Multidisciplinary Clinical CoordinationParticipate actively in multidisciplinary team meetings, morbidity and mortality reviews, and clinical decision-making, while coordinating referrals and specialist input across relevant hospital departments.4. Clinical Governance and Patient SafetyImplement and promote MSF clinical guidelines, protocols, and SOPs, ensuring adherence to standards for infection prevention, antibiotic prophylaxis, pain management, thromboprophylaxis, blood transfusion, occupational exposure, and rational medicine use.5. Team Supervision, Teaching and Capacity BuildingSupervise clinical, nursing, and support staff and provide bedside, surgical, and theoretical teaching to medical students, interns, residents, clinical officers, nurses, registrars, and other healthcare professionals.                    6. Documentation, Reporting and Data ManagementEnsure accurate and timely documentation in electronic and paper medical records, maintain relevant statistics and databases, and contribute to monthly reports, SITREPs, and other departmental reporting requirements.7. Research and Quality ImprovementParticipate in departmental research and quality improvement activities, particularly cervical cancer research, and contribute to SOP development, clinical audits, and initiatives aimed at improving patient outcomes and quality of care.8.
