VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT@ MALAWI FERTILIZE COMPANY LTD POSITION: HEAD OF SALESLocation: LilongweABOUT THE ROLEAs part of a restructuring drive, Malawi Fertilizer Company, as a subsidiary of Farmers World Holdings, wishes to recruit a suitably qualified person to fill the existing vacancy of Head of Sales for Malawi, which is tenable at its Agora Ltd and Malawi Fertilizer Company Ltd in Lilongwe. Reporting to the General Manager (Commercial), the Head of Sales will develop and implement sales strategies, methods, and processes, and integrate the organization's resources to drive commercial and direct customer acquisition and retention efforts in specified territories for the organization to gain market share. This includes coordination with internal stakeholders to ensure the successful distribution of products and fulfilment of sales orders.KEY REQUIREMENTS- Education: Bachelor's degree and/or Professional Qualifications in Business, Commerce and Management Studies.- Experience: 6-10 years of experience, including a track record of 3 years in a team lead/people management or technical capability.- Technical Competencies: Sales Planning, Research & Analysis, Business Performance, Business Management and Forecasting.- Skills: Strong analytical abilities, sharp attention to detail, leadership capability, problem-solving skills and clear communication skills.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Formulate and implement/manage the sales strategy directly with sales leads through a structured financial viability assessment.- Negotiate competitive contracts, pricing, and sales terms to maximize profitability.- Manage customer due diligence, legally sound contracts, service terms, and implementation plans.- Identify legitimate, beneficial uses of customer data and enable appropriate insights.- Coordinate internal stakeholders and processes to fulfil customer orders efficiently.- Guide systematic order entry, follow-up, inquiries, and reporting and set accurate distribution requirements and delivery schedules to meet customer expectations.- Collaborate with the Agronomy Centre of Excellence to support Sales; integrate Agronomy Services into the sales portfolio across all customer segments and provide effective farmer advisory, extension, support, and training services.- Identify, manage, and convert customer sales leads into sales opportunities; and efficiently fulfil customer orders (OTC) to grow revenue, satisfaction, and relationships.- Forecast sales to allocate resources, optimize inventory, and align growth with demand and manage customer accounts to strengthen partnerships, satisfaction, and revenue.- Manage contracts to ensure compliance, reduce risk, optimize terms, and benefit both parties; and thereafter manage order payments and revenue assurance for accurate, timely processing.- Process customer invoices accurately and on time to assist in implementing customer processes and follow up payments to protect revenue recovery.- Monitor sales performance and report progress, targets, and opportunities and evaluate profitability across sales teams, channels, alliances, and partners.- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, laws, and industry standards governing the sale and distribution of fertilizer products.- Identify sensitive customer data and establish data protection rules on how sensitive customer data must be handled throughout the customer data touch points in accordance with the organization's guidelines and laws of the land.- Identify and pursue strategic sales partnerships and alliances to enable sustainable growth on the long term.- Support business sustainability by critically analysing sales performance against sales forecasts for future sales strategies and plans.- Manage and improve customer relationships with the intent of retaining customers and/or increasing their sales volumes of the organization's products/services.- Develop sales forecasts and plans based on market trends and business objectives, and continuously adjust strategies as needed to meet changing market conditions.- Identify and pursue new opportunities in alignment with the Strategy, Competitor landscape and Market trends.- Provide input into the development and enhancements to ensure alignment with existing and prospective customer needs.- Ensure effective use of customer feedback in the development of customer products and customer facing operations.- Evaluate customer service operations and customer satisfaction and drive continuous improvement efforts to close customer operations and customer satisfaction gaps.- Ensure efficient resolution of customer problems, queries, and complaints.- Implement robust management of proactive and responsive customer contact.- Provide leadership, guidance, and support to the Sales function, setting sales targets, monitoring performance, and fostering a culture of high performance and accountability.- Implement the individual performance management system to support the achievement of Business Unit strategies and plans.- Manage the strategic use of data and its inherent value to explore opportunities, plan, and guide all decisions for execution.- Accumulate and analyse customer data and trends in the appropriate tools for the development of customer acquisition and retention strategies.- Ensure appropriate capturing, storage, maintenance, access, revision and usage of customer information and commercial data to ensure data validity and accuracy.- Contribute to the digital transformation conversation and identify opportunities for digitization within the Sales environment.HOW TO APPLYIf you are interested and you meet the above requirements, please send your curriculum vitae and cover letter including names and contact details of three traceable referees, one of whom should be your current or former employer to:The Human Resources Manager,Farmers World Ltd,P.O Box 1631,LilongweEmail: recruitment@farmersworld.netTo reach him not later than Thursday 15th October 2026.Malawi Fertilizer Company is an equal opportunities employer.
