Job description
CHESS Sacco is a regulated Savings and Credit Cooperative Society based in Kiambu Town. We are dedicated to providing ethical, community-focused financial services that empower our members to build wealth and achieve economic independence. To support our credit operations and ensure financial stability, we are seeking a results-driven, highly principled Credit Officer.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement sound credit policies, strategies, and procedures to ensure efficient loan processing, portfolio management, and timely loan repayments.
- Appraise, review, and evaluate loan applications in accordance with the SACCO’s Credit Policy and lending procedures.
- Monitor the performance of the loan portfolio and prepare timely reports to maintain a healthy and quality loan book.
- Ensure adherence to approved loan repayment schedules and initiate appropriate recovery measures for delinquent accounts.
- Maintain a Portfolio at Risk (PAR) of below 5% and achieve other credit performance targets set by the SACCO.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
- Education: Minimum of a Diploma or Degree in a business-related field (e.g., Finance, Accounting, Co-operative Management, Credit Management, or Business Administration).
- Age: Must be 25 years of age and above.
- Experience: Prior experience in loan recovery or debt collection from financial institutions or SACCOs is an added advantage.
- Integrity & Professionalism: High level of personal integrity, strong negotiation skills, firmness, and excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
