Job Summary

IRES is seeking an experienced Consultant Trainer – Mechanical Engineering to deliver technical training, professional development programmes, workshops and mechanical engineering consultancy assignments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver technical training programmes in mechanical engineering.
  • Develop training materials, presentations, case studies and practical exercises.
  • Facilitate technical workshops and professional learning sessions.
  • Translate technical concepts and industry practices into practical learning.
  • Provide technical input into training proposals, curricula and consultancy assignments.
  • Provide technical advisory and subject-matter expertise on mechanical engineering assignments.
  • Keep training content current with relevant technologies, standards and industry practices.
  • Assess participant learning and provide constructive feedback.

Minimum Qualifications and Professional Experience

  • Minimum 7 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Relevant Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical and Production Engineering.
  • Relevant Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Maintenance Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a related field is an advantage.
  • Registered and licensed by the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK).
  • Current membership of the Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK).
  • Relevant professional certification in the consultant’s area of specialisation, where applicable.
  • Demonstrated experience in professional training, facilitation, technical presentations or knowledge transfer.

Training & Facilitation Experience

  • Experience delivering professional or technical training.

  • Training of Trainers (ToT) certification is an advantage.

Consultancy Role Focus

  • Technical training, mechanical engineering, plant and machinery, maintenance, manufacturing and related consultancy assignments, including technical advisory and capacity-building support.

Mode of Engagement

  • The Consultant Trainer will be engaged on a need basis for specific training and consultancy assignments. The scope, duration, deliverables and professional fees will be agreed before each engagement.
