Job Summary
IRES is seeking an experienced Consultant Trainer – Civil Engineering to deliver technical training, professional development programmes, workshops and civil engineering consultancy assignments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver technical training programmes in civil engineering.
- Develop training materials, presentations, case studies and practical exercises.
- Facilitate technical workshops and professional learning sessions.
- Translate technical concepts and industry practices into practical learning.
- Provide technical input into training proposals, curricula and consultancy assignments.
- Provide technical advisory and subject-matter expertise on civil engineering assignments.
- Keep training content current with relevant standards and industry practices.
- Assess participant learning and provide constructive feedback.
Minimum Qualifications and Professional Experience
- Minimum 7 years of relevant professional experience.
- Relevant Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Civil and Structural Engineering.
- Relevant Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Management, Transportation Engineering, Water Resources Engineering or a related field is an advantage.
- Registered and licensed by the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK).
- Current membership of the Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK).
- Relevant professional certification in the consultant’s area of specialisation, where applicable.
- Demonstrated experience in professional training, facilitation, technical presentations or knowledge transfer.

Training & Facilitation Experience
- Experience delivering professional or technical training.

- Training of Trainers (ToT) certification is an advantage.

Consultancy Role Focus
- Technical training, civil engineering, construction, infrastructure development and related consultancy assignments, including technical advisory and capacity-building support.
Mode of Engagement
- The Consultant Trainer will be engaged on a need basis for specific training and consultancy assignments. The scope, duration, deliverables and professional fees will be agreed before each engagement.
