VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENTCENTRAL MEDICAL STORES TRUST (CMST)POSITION: WAREHOUSE ASSISTANTJob Grade: MS9Duty Stations: Mzuzu, Lilongwe and BlantyreReports To: Senior Warehouse Assistant (MS7)Number of Positions: Three (3)About Central Medical Stores TrustCentral Medical Stores Trust (CMST) is responsible for the procurement, warehousing, sales and distribution of adequate, affordable, approved and quality medicines and medical supplies to public health facilities throughout Malawi.CMST is inviting applications from suitably qualified, transformative and visionary individuals to support the effective delivery of its mandate.Purpose of the JobThe Warehouse Assistant will support warehouse operations by ensuring cleanliness of warehouse facilities and carrying out accurate picking, assembling, packaging and labelling of medicines and medical supplies in accordance with approved pick lists and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).Key Duties and Responsibilities- Picking, assembling, packaging and labelling scheduled orders in accordance with approved pick lists.- Loading, offloading, stacking and racking medicines and medical supplies in designated warehouse locations.- Reporting damaged, expired, short-dated or incorrectly stored stock to supervisors.- Maintaining a high level of stock security within the warehouse.- Batching received stock in accordance with established warehouse procedures.- Ensuring pallet labels are correctly maintained on all products and storage locations.- Maintaining cleanliness of warehouse facilities, offices, equipment and fittings.- Operating warehouse equipment and tools safely as required.- Ensuring products are stacked and stored in accordance with approved warehouse procedures and SOPs.- Picking and assembling medicines and medical supplies as directed by Pharmacists and warehouse supervisors.- Packaging assembled medicines and medical supplies and ensuring clear and accurate labelling.- Loading and offloading products for deliveries, transfers and stock movements.- Operating forklifts safely when authorised and required.- Reporting forklift defects and maintenance requirements to supervisors.- Promoting workplace safety and protecting fellow workers during warehouse operations.- Supporting stock-taking and inventory verification exercises as required.Qualifications and ExperienceMinimum Qualification:- Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) or its equivalent.Experience:- At least one (1) year of relevant work experience.Skills and Personal AttributesThe successful candidate should demonstrate:- Trustworthiness and reliability.- Good communication skills.- Good numerical skills.- Strong attention to detail.- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.- Punctuality and dependability.- Physical fitness, energy and good health.- Willingness to work odd hours when required.- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.How to ApplyInterested and suitably qualified candidates should submit:- An application letter.- A detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV) containing at least three (3) traceable referees.- Copies of relevant academic and professional certificates.Applications in sealed envelopes clearly indicating the name of the position being applied for should be addressed to:The Chief Executive OfficerCentral Medical Stores TrustPrivate Bag 55Mzimba DriveLilongwe, MalawiAlternatively, applications may be submitted via email:vacancies@cmst.mwClosing DateFriday, 4th September 2026CMST is an equal opportunity employer.
