Job SummaryTo safely and efficiently operate a tipper truck for the transportation, loading, and off-loading of construction materials including sand, quarry stone, gravel, soil, aggregates, and other materials required for construction projects.The Tipper Driver is responsible for the proper care and safe operation of the assigned vehicle, ensuring compliance with Malawi road traffic regulations, company policies, construction-site procedures, and health and safety requirements.2. Key Duties and Responsibilities• Operate the assigned tipper truck safely and efficiently on construction sites, public roads, quarries, and material yards.• Transport construction materials between suppliers, quarries, depots, project sites, and designated locations.• Load and discharge materials in accordance with instructions from the Site Supervisor or Transport Manager.• Ensure that the vehicle is not overloaded and that loads are properly distributed and secured.• Conduct daily pre-start inspections before operating the vehicle.• Check engine oil, coolant, fuel, hydraulic systems, tyres, brakes, lights, indicators, and other essential components.• Report mechanical defects, damage, unusual noises, or other faults immediately to the supervisor or mechanic.• Carry out basic vehicle checks, cleaning, lubrication, and routine maintenance as required.• Complete vehicle logbooks, trip sheets, delivery notes, fuel records, and other required documentation accurately.• Follow assigned routes and delivery schedules.• Observe all applicable road traffic laws, speed limits, and company driving procedures.• Follow construction-site traffic management plans and instructions from banksmen, flagmen, and site supervisors.• Exercise extreme caution when reversing, tipping, loading, and unloading, particularly around workers, machinery, buildings, excavations, and overhead obstructions.• Ensure the tipping body is completely lowered and secured before travelling.• Ensure the tipping area is stable, level, and clear of personnel and obstructions before raising the tipping body.• Park the vehicle in designated and secure areas when not in use.• Prevent unauthorized persons from operating or using the assigned vehicle.• Monitor fuel consumption and report abnormal fuel usage.• Maintain the vehicle in a clean, safe, and roadworthy condition.• Immediately report accidents, near misses, breakdowns, traffic incidents, or damage involving the vehicle.• Maintain professional and respectful conduct when interacting with clients, suppliers, colleagues, and members of the public.• Support other transport or site activities when reasonably required and where competent to do so.• Perform any other duties assigned by management that are consistent with the position.3. Qualifications and Experience• Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) or equivalent is an advantage.• Must possess a valid Malawian driver's licence of the appropriate class for the assigned tipper truck.• Minimum 2–3 years' experience driving tipper trucks, dump trucks, or other heavy commercial vehicles.• Previous experience in construction, quarrying, road works, mining, or a similar environment is highly desirable.• Demonstrated experience driving on construction sites and unpaved roads.• Basic knowledge of heavy-vehicle operation and maintenance.• Knowledge of road safety and construction-site safety procedures.• Defensive-driving training or relevant professional driver training is an added advantage.4.
