OVERVIEWProject HOPE Namibia (PHN) is an indigenous regional African NGO founded in 2004 with technical expertise in infectious diseases, maternal and child health, and economic strengthening with a programmatic presence across the continent. PHN has over 20 years' experience implementing public health programming in Africa with demonstrated capacity to implement PEPFAR-funded projects in Namibia and Malawi.Project HOPE Namibia – MA (PHN-MA), registered in Malawi in 2024, is currently implementing the Ana ndi Achinyamata Patsogolo (ANAPA) project in Malawi – a five-year, $60 million initiative funded by PEPFAR/USAID previously and now under the USG's Department of State (DoS). ANAPA now prioritizes the provision of life-saving HIV care and treatment services for vulnerable children.It is against this background that PHN-MA seeks qualified Malawians to fill the post for the ANAPA Activity.Reports to: Head DriverDuty Station: ThyoloNature of Contract: 3 Month Fixed-term Contract (Renewable depending on the availability of funds)Number Required: 1Minimum Hours of Work: 40 hours per weekApplication Deadline: Tuesday, 29th September 2026, at 5:00 PMPOSITION: DRIVERJOB TYPE: Fixed Contract (3 Months, renewable)JOB SUMMARYPerform tasks related to driving vehicles of Ana Ndi Achinyamata Patsogolo (ANAPA), under Project HOPE Namibia – MA (PHN-MA) that are entrusted to you in a safe and economical manner, in conjunction with PHN policy and the traffic laws and regulations of Malawi.KEY REQUIREMENTSMinimum Qualifications, Experience and Required Skills:Minimum Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE).Minimum of 3 Years work experience as a professional driver.Good oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.High level of integrity.Ability to understand and fix minor motor vehicle mechanical problems.Commitment to developing and staying up to date on company policies, practices, and trends.Valid Driving licence.Valid Defensive driving Certificate.SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESTransportation & Safety:Transport PHN staff and visitors as instructed.Always ensure the safety of passengers and luggage.Observe speed limits and all PHN travel guidelines.Ensure proper communication procedures.Vehicle Maintenance:Maintain vehicles allocated in sound mechanical condition.Ensure washing & general cleaning of vehicles is maintained.Ensure that vehicles are fueled and serviced promptly.Report any faults/breakdowns & accidents immediately to the Logistics Officer.Ensure First Aid Kits are complete, and spare & tools are in allocated vehicles.Ensure that vehicle tools are always kept in allocated vehicles.Perform minor repairs as required and recommend major cases to the garage.Road test and certify all vehicles from the garages.Record Keeping:Ensure that all vehicles have log sheets and pens.Maintain accurate vehicle records to ensure that all trips, fuel fill-ups, time and mileage readings are recorded.Ensure fuel fill ups entry is made in the log sheet timely.Ensure vehicle request forms are filled in and submitted for travel allocation to Logistics Officer.Submit all vehicle log sheets monthly to the Logistics Officer.Ensure to check vehicle on a daily basis and submit a check list report to Logistics Officer.Submit a field trip report after every trip to the Logistics Officer.Submit vehicle repair reports to the Logistics Officer every time before and after repairs.Delivering and Receiving Mail:Prompt delivery of all mail and maintain records on delivery book, including cheques and equipment.Check in the post office for mail on a regular basis.Receive mail from partners and sub-offices and hand it over to the Logistics Officer.Check on Vehicle Comprehensive, 3rd Party Insurance and Certificate of Fitness:Ensure that vehicle comprehensive and 3rd party insurance are valid.Ensure that the vehicle certificate of fitness is valid.Inform Logistics Officer 3 weeks in advance of renewals.HOW TO APPLYInterested candidates who meet the above qualifications and experience are requested to submit their Curriculum Vitae with 3 traceable referees, cover letter together with copies of certificates to the email address below:Email: recruitmentmw@africaphn.orgNote: Please clearly indicate the position title in the email subject.Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for interviews.
