Job description

Millfield Runda School is a growing Cambridge International School in Nairobi committed to providing a well-rounded education through excellence in academics, sports and co-curricular activities. We are seeking an enthusiastic, energetic and dedicated Swimming Assistant Coach to join our sports team.

THE ROLE

The Swimming Assistant Coach will support the Head Sports Coach in delivering high-quality swimming lessons and programmes for learners of all ages and abilities. The successful candidate will help develop swimming skills, water confidence and competitive performance while ensuring the highest standards of safety and learner welfare.

Qualifications & Experience

  • A recognised qualification in swimming instruction and coaching, with experience in preparing learners for successful participation in internal and external swimming competitions.
  • Valid First Aid, CPR certification and must have Life Guard Certification.
  • At least 2 years’ experience coaching or assisting with swimming programmes, preferably in a school environment
  • Experience working with children of different ages and swimming abilities
  • Knowledge of swimming techniques, stroke development and water safety
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A commitment to maintaining a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and delivering swimming lessons and coaching sessions
  • Support learners in developing swimming techniques and water confidence
  • Help prepare school teams for inter-school competitions and galas
  • Supervise learners during lessons and ensure adherence to all pool safety procedures
  • Assist in setting up and maintaining swimming equipment
  • Monitor learner progress and provide constructive feedback
  • Promote sportsmanship, teamwork and a positive attitude towards swimming
