Responsible for supervising pension administration activities, managing member records, processing pension transactions, supporting client needs, and ensuring accurate and timely service delivery. Requires a relevant qualification in pensions, insurance, finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field. The position is based in Nairobi and requires on-site work.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the end-to-end administration of a portfolio of pension schemes including onboarding, contributions, benefit payments, and exits.
- Verify and approve complex fund updates, scheme valuations, member statements, and regulatory filings.
- Authorize escalated withdrawal requests and high-value transactions within the set approval matrix.
- Monitor compliance with statutory obligations and support internal/external audits.
- Lead and coordinate trustee and member meetings, AGMs, and training sessions.
- Prepare and review quarterly and annual scheme performance and compliance reports for management and regulatory bodies.
- Provide mentorship, technical guidance, and performance oversight for junior staff and scheme supervisors.
- Drive innovation through automation of operational processes and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Liaise with external stakeholders, including clients, intermediaries, custodians, and regulators, to resolve complex scheme matters.
- Contribute to the preparation of scheme-specific board papers and performance dashboards for leadership review. and
- Other duties as may be assigned by the Line Manager from time to time.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Insurance, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Professional qualification in retirement benefits, insurance, marketing, or business development (e.g, FSRI, CPSP, AIIK, CPAM, CIM).
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in pension administration with at least 2 years in a supervisory or team-lead capacity.
- Strong understanding of the Retirement Benefits Act and the regulatory framework in Kenya.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
