Platform Engineer: Automation

Job description

Nedbank is recruiting a Platform Engineer: Automation in Johannesburg. This hybrid role designs and operates reusable infrastructure automation across Azure, AWS and on-premises environments. The engineer will build Terraform modules, automate provisioning and configuration with Ansible, Python and PowerShell, maintain CI/CD pipelines, and support a governed internal developer platform with self-service infrastructure templates and APIs. The work includes security, compliance, monitoring, reliability and cost controls. Closing date: 26 October 2026.

Requirements

At least two years of relevant infrastructure automation, cloud, DevOps, systems or platform engineering experience. Practical experience with Terraform, Ansible, Python, PowerShell, Azure, AWS, Azure DevOps CI/CD, Git and cloud or on-premises Windows/Linux infrastructure. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent recognised qualification in computer science, IT, information systems, computer engineering or a related field. Nedbank lists Azure Associate-level, AWS Associate-level, Terraform Associate, Red Hat Ansible or infrastructure, and Azure DevOps Engineer or equivalent certifications as mandatory.
