About the Role: Engineering Manager Jobs in Kalumbila

Reporting directly to the General Manager and as a vital member of the site leadership team, the Engineering Manager will have full accountability for the engineering and maintenance of the fixed copper process plant and the Heavy and Light Mobile Equipment fleets. This position requires a dynamic leader to develop and implement engineering strategies, maintenance programs, and capital projects that maximize asset performance, minimize downtime, and support ambitious production targets during a period of significant operational growth.

The successful candidate will foster a culture of reliability, safety, and continuous improvement while ensuring compliance with mining legislation and engineering standards. This role demands a proactive approach to asset management and the development of a larger, capable local engineering team.

Key Responsibilities

• Safety, Health & Environment: Promote and enforce compliance with safety, health, and environmental policies; develop emission reduction initiatives across the mine.
• Asset Management & Reliability: Deliver best-in-class engineering and maintenance within budget; enhance equipment reliability; transition maintenance from reactive to predictive models; conduct life cycle costing analyses; optimize maintenance planning and scheduling.
• Capital Projects & Expansion: Lead capital expenditure programs aligned with the Life of Mine plan and Super Pit Expansion; ensure engineering readiness and safe handover of new assets; optimize stock levels and manage OEMs and contractors effectively.
• People & Capability Development: Build and scale a resilient engineering team; attract and retain diverse local talent; prioritize the development of Zambian personnel through structured training, mentoring, and succession planning.
• Technology & Continuous Improvement: Drive innovation through data analytics, automation, and technology frameworks; develop roadmaps for technological advancement; pursue operational flexibility and cost optimization.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is required; additional qualifications in Business Administration or Project Management are advantageous.
• Membership of the Engineering Institute of Zambia is essential.
• At least 15 years of mining maintenance experience, including a minimum of 8 years in senior engineering or maintenance leadership roles, preferably with Ultra Class equipment experience.
• Proven track record managing large-scale fixed process plants and heavy mobile equipment fleets.
• Strong expertise in asset management, reliability engineering, budgeting, and capital project delivery.
• Excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
• Desirable experience includes leading through major expansions and operational readiness for new projects.
