Lumwana Mining Company seeks to recruit a highly committed employee for the position of Project Engineer – Operations to join the Mining Department. We are in search of an individual who can champion Barrick’s DNA by:

Reporting to the Coordinator – Projects, you will be responsible for supporting the planning, coordination, and execution of improvement initiatives across large-scale surface mining operations to improve productivity and project outcomes.

Your duties will include but are not limited to the following

• Ensure adherence to safe work practices and timely reporting and investigation of incidents.

• Collaborate with respective production teams to deliver initiatives and integrate solutions into the project execution.

• Optimize processes, systems across the operation, aiming to reduce mining costs and improve project economics.

• Conduct in-depth data analyses to identify patterns and opportunities for improvement within the mining operations.

• Reconcile assumptions used in design and scheduling work against recent actual performance, implementing options to improve performance.

• Ensure timely and accurate delivery of all required reports.

• Assist in preparing business plans and budgets for required study work.

• Development and Implementation of long-term infrastructure design and execution details.

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements

• Full Grade Twelve (12) School Certificate.

• Minimum of a Degree in Mining Engineering or related Engineering qualification.

• A minimum of four (4) years mining engineering experience. Experience in open pit operations will be added advantage. 

• Proven experience with mine designing software.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant engineering software.

• Must be a member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ).

• Possession of a valid driver’s licence will be an added advantage.
