Job description
Responsible for supporting the installation, maintenance, testing, and repair of fibre optic networks and related telecommunications equipment. Requires a relevant qualification in telecommunications, fibre optics, electrical engineering, or a related field The role is based in Nairobi with duties performed on-site.
Qualifications
- Certificate/Diploma in Telecommunication, Fiber optics or related field.
- 1+ years of experience in a similar role.
- Basic understanding of fiber network concepts.
- Proficiency in fiber handling & maintenance.
- Strong problem-solving skills and technical expertise.
Key Responsibilities
- Support lead technicians in fibre installation, maintenance and fault restoration.
- Assist with fibre preparation, splicing, testing and site activities.
- Installing and terminating fiber optic cables and other network equipment.
- Diagnose and resolve fibre network faults within agreed SLA.
- Ensure work is completed according to set technical and safety standards.
- Observing Health & Safety guidelines and ensuring quality assurance throughout the implementation and maintenance period.
- Work with Assistant technicians and submit job completion reports.
- Educating clients on basic troubleshooting processes and answering fiber optic related questions from customers.
- Individuals will work as a team with other technicians and NOC personnel and report to field supervisors.
- Fiber link faulting and faults resolutions within the Service Level Agreement (SLA).
- Splicing fiber optics at various fiber distribution hubs, troubleshooting and testing fiber links with a light source, optical power meters and an OTDR.
- Providing timely updates on fiber faults to the NOC personnel and ensuring excellent customer service to the client.
- Any other duty that may be assigned from time to time.
