Account Executive

Job description

We are looking for an Account Executive to join our team. The successful candidate will take on meaningful responsibility for executing various strategic communications deliverables under the guidance of an account manager. This role is suited to an early career communications professional with excellent writing and critical thinking skills. They will need to understand public policy, the legislative process and South Africa’s media landscape. They must be able to work well in a fast-paced environment, juggling various tasks and meeting tight deadlines. Location: Cape Town or Johannesburg Key responsibilities: Research and writing: Producing research notes for internal teams, and writing first drafts of various pieces of content including press statements, opinion pieces, speeches and social media posts.Client management: Building and maintaining relationships with clients, understanding their communication needs and objectives, managing team and client meeting schedules, and compiling meeting reports.Campaign development: Working with internal teams to help develop strategic communication plans and campaigns.Media relations: Proactively pitching stories to media outlets, securing coverage, and managing media lists and relationships.Reporting and analysis: Monitoring and analysing campaign performance, providing regular updates and insights.Business development: Assisting with lead development and new business pitches.Qualifications: A degree in the social sciences, humanities, law or similar (preferably postgraduate) is recommended.Ideally two to four years’ experience in a similar role.Strong written and verbal communication skills.An analytical ability, sound judgement, and attention to detail.Strong organisational and workflow discipline.Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite, including PowerPoint and Excel.Self-starter with initiative, professionalism and intellectual curiosity.
