Customer-care jobs in Kenya may focus on calls, email, live chat, reception, social messaging or a combination. Read the vacancy to identify the channel, shift pattern, language, system and performance expectations. Do not assume that general friendliness replaces accurate records and controlled escalation.

Map evidence to the channel

For phone support, prepare an example of listening, confirming key information, explaining the next step and recording the call. Email applicants should show concise written communication and careful attachment handling. Chat evidence can demonstrate clear short replies and managing more than one conversation only when that is true.

Reception and retail experience can provide transferable evidence. Name the setting honestly instead of relabelling it as call-centre employment. State whether you used a ticketing system, spreadsheet, notebook or another authorised record.

Create a fictional ticket note

Use an invented customer and reference. Record the request, information verified, action taken, unresolved question, owner and promised update time. Separate what the customer reported from what you confirmed. Remove personal details and never publish a real customer conversation.

Add one case where the first response does not solve the issue. Show the handover with priority, evidence, previous action and next owner. Do not promise a refund, technical fix or deadline outside your authority.

Describe service quality without invented scores

Use documented measures only. If you do not have satisfaction or resolution figures, describe the records you maintained, the volume range you can support or a specific improvement verified by a supervisor. Avoid claiming “100% customer satisfaction.”

Prepare an example of correcting your own incomplete note. Explain the mistake, how it was found and how you prevented recurrence. This demonstrates accountability more credibly than saying you never make errors.

Write the CV

Lead with the relevant channel, language ability and recent experience. Use bullets with situation, action and recorded result. Keep typing scores, language levels and system knowledge accurate. Personal practice is not an employer assessment.

If the role requires sales as well as service, distinguish identifying a need from pressuring a customer. Follow product terms and consent requirements.

Interview and application safety

Practise an upset-customer scenario, an unclear request and a privacy boundary. Explain when you would involve a supervisor. Verify the employer and application link, send only requested documents and never pay for a customer-care interview, training slot or equipment.
