Job description

Ideal Candidates

Enthusiastic, creative, and reflective emerging arts educators or practising artists with a passion for visual arts and working with children and young people. Candidates should demonstrate strong artistic skills, a willingness to learn, and the ability to collaborate positively with teachers and learners in an inclusive and supportive environment.

Qualifications and Minimum Requirements

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Visual Arts, Art Education, Fine Arts, Design, or a related field
  • Demonstrated artistic practice through a portfolio of work
  • Strong artistic and creative skills across a variety of media
  • Previous experience working with children or young people is an advantage
  • Strong understanding of child development and diverse learning needs
  • Commitment to inclusion, sustainability, and learner-centred practices
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Positive attitude, initiative, and willingness to learn
  • Flexible, adaptable, and open to feedback
  • Strong alignment with Woodland Star’s mission and values
  • Current police clearance/background check or willingness to obtain one
  • Certified copies of academic and professional documents
  • At least two academic or professional references

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist Visual Arts teachers in preparing and delivering high-quality, inquiry-based art experiences aligned with curriculum goals
  • Support the creation of a safe, inclusive, supportive, and challenging learning environment
  • Prepare, organise, and maintain art materials, tools, equipment, and studio spaces
  • Support learners as they explore different artistic processes, techniques, and media
  • Encourage creativity, experimentation, curiosity, and positive artistic risk-taking
  • Assist with mounting displays, exhibitions, showcases, and community art projects
  • Support the documentation of student artwork and learning processes
  • Collaborate with teachers and students to support classroom projects and wider school initiatives
  • Participate in school events, projects, and community activities
  • Contribute to a culture of creativity, reflection, respect, and collaboration
  • Uphold Woodland Star’s mission, values, and Behaviour Code
  • Engage in professional learning and make use of feedback to develop teaching and artistic practice
