One Acre Fund is seeking an experienced food safety professional to take responsibility for the Food Safety Management System supporting Tupande’s macadamia operations.
The position has an important connection to farmer livelihoods because premium export markets generally require suppliers to meet recognized food safety and quality certification standards. The specialist will therefore support the systems behind BRCGS and FSSC certification, helping the programme access higher-value markets for farmers’ macadamia.
The successful professional will lead food safety activities within the processing environment and ensure that operational practices remain consistent with the standards required for certification and audit readiness.
Key responsibilities
- Leading the food safety team.
- Owning and maintaining the Food Safety Management System.
- Supporting the systems required for BRCGS and FSSC certification.
- Reviewing shift records to ensure food safety requirements are being followed.
- Checking Critical Control Points and associated monitoring activities.
- Conducting floor-level checks covering operations from receiving through to packing.
- Identifying food safety or quality issues within the processing operation.
- Closing findings identified during audits.
- Driving corrective actions arising from food safety reviews and audits.
- Investigating operational and food safety issues.
- Conducting root-cause analysis when problems are identified.
- Coaching members of the food safety team.
- Preparing the operation and relevant teams for audits.
- Supporting the certification systems required to access premium export markets.
- Maintaining the standards necessary to protect product quality and market access.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in food manufacturing.
- Experience as a food safety professional.
