VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT@ AFRICAN PARKS (AP)POSITION: TRUCK DRIVER Location: Liwonde National park_________________________Division: Liwonde National ParkBusiness Unit: OperationsMinimum experience: AssociateCompany primary industry: Non-profit Organisation ManagementJob functional area: OperationsContract term: 36 MonthsJob DescriptionAfrican Parks (AP) is a not-for-profit organization that secures a mandate to conserve through Public Private Partnerships with Governments and communities for the rehabilitation and long-term management of protected areas in Africa, and here in Malawi, AP has secured this mandate for the management of Majete Wildlife Reserve, Liwonde National Park, Mangochi Forest Reserve and Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve.An opportunity has arisen for the post of Truck Driver tenable at Liwonde National Park in LiwondeThe truck driver will directly report to the Field Operations Manager, the successful candidate will provide safe, reliable, and efficient transport services for staff, materials, equipment, and other organizational requirements. The role includes ensuring that assigned vehicles are roadworthy, clean, properly maintained, and used in line with organizational policies, approved travel plans, and applicable road traffic regulations in Malawi.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but not limited to):Transport and vehicle operationsSafely operate assigned trucks in accordance with Malawi traffic laws and African Parks policies.Transport staff, materials, equipment and supplies to authorised destinations, including field and project sites.Conduct routine vehicle inspections and promptly report mechanical faults, accidents, damage or safety concerns.Maintain vehicles in a clean, secure and roadworthy condition.Maintain accurate vehicle, fuel, mileage and trip records.Ensure safe loading and off-loading of materials and equipment where required.Support timely and efficient field operations and perform other reasonable duties assigned by the supervisor.REQUIREMENTSMSCE or equivalent.Valid Malawian driving licence appropriate for heavy trucks, preferably Class CE.Minimum 3 years’ professional truck-driving experience, preferably in logistics, field operations, construction, conservation, or a similar environment.Good knowledge of Malawi road networks, traffic regulations, and road safety.Basic mechanical knowledge and ability to identify and report vehicle faults.Defensive driving training/certification and mechanical knowledge are added advantage.Good communication skills, integrity, discipline, and reliability.Ability to work independently, follow instructions and work flexible hours, including weekends and field assignments.Physical fitness and willingness to work in a demanding field environment.Special Conditions.African Parks is an equal opportunity Employer.
