VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT@ BLANTYRE CITY COUNCIL POSITION: TOWN PLANNING OFFICER Location: BlantyreOVERVIEW The Local Government Service Commission is inviting applications from suitable qualified Malawians to fill the following vacant positions existing at BLANTYRE CITY COUNCILPOST: Town Planning OfficerGrade: M6/ISALARY: In line with Terms and Conditions of Service for Blantyre City CouncilQUALIFICATIONS:Applicants must be in possession of Bachelor’s Degree in Urban and Regional Planning, Land Management or Geography. They must demonstrate knowledge of spatial planning, land use policies, and development control, alongside experience in preparing strategic and detailed location plans, processing development applications, and supporting planning committees. Strong communication, report-writing, and stakeholder engagement skills are essential.DUTIESAssists in preparing the agenda for Technical Officers Committee Meetings and Town Planning Committee meetings and representing the Council at these meetings.Assists in Forward Planning as assigned from time to timeDevelops spatial and strategic plans: e.g., production of Detailed Location PlanScrutinizes and process development applicationsAssists in investigating complaints and breaches of planning conditions and taking legal action against those breachesProvides technical support to prospective developersMODE OF APPLICATIONInterested applicants who meet the requirements should submit their applications together with a detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV), Photocopies of relevant certificates and National Identity Card.Application should be clearly labelled on the envelope the position being applied for and addressed to; NOT LATER THAN 12TH SEPTEMBER, 2026.The Executive Secretary,Local Government Service Commission,P.O.
