The company has vacancies at its Rumphi Project Site: Job Title : TLB Operator (2) (Re-advertised)Duty Station : Rumphi or Any HEJ Project SiteNature of Contract : Fixed Term 12 monthsReporting to : Project Manager/Site HR/Plant & Workshop ManagerDepartment : Plant Fleet & LogisticsJob SummaryThe TLB Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a Tractor-Loader-Backhoe (TLB) on construction, roadworks, drainage, excavation, and general civil engineering projects. The operator performs excavation, loading, trenching, backfilling, levelling, and material-handling activities while ensuring the machine is properly maintained and operated in accordance with safety requirements.Key Duties & Responsibilities• Safely operate the TLB for excavation, trenching, loading, backfilling, levelling, and material handling.• Excavate foundations, trenches, drainage channels, culverts, and other earthworks as instructed.• Load, move, and place soil, gravel, sand, rubble, and other construction materials.• Carry out backfilling and compaction preparation as required.• Operate the front loader and backhoe attachments effectively for different site activities.• Read and follow site plans, drawings, measurements, and instructions from supervisors or site engineers.• Maintain accurate excavation levels, depths, slopes, and dimensions according to project requirements.• Conduct daily pre-start inspections and report defects or mechanical problems immediately.• Check engine oil, coolant, hydraulic fluid, fuel, tyres, and other essential components before operation.• Carry out routine operator maintenance and keep the machine clean and in good working condition.• Operate the TLB carefully around workers, vehicles, underground services, buildings, and other site structures.• Follow all company health, safety, environmental, and traffic-control procedures.• Maintain records of machine hours, fuel usage, and work performed where required.• Avoid unnecessary idling, excessive fuel consumption, and improper use of the equipment.• Assist other site teams when required and perform any other duties related to TLB operation as assigned by the supervisor.Qualifications and Experience• Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) or equivalent is an advantage.• Valid heavy equipment/operator's licence or relevant TLB operating certification, where applicable.• At least 2–3 years of practical experience operating a TLB, preferably in construction, roadworks, agriculture, mining, or civil engineering.• Demonstrated ability to operate both the loader and backhoe functions safely and efficiently.• Basic knowledge of excavation, drainage, earthworks, and construction practices.• Basic mechanical knowledge and ability to identify common equipment faults.• Experience working on construction sites in Malawi is an advantage.Key Skills and Competencies• Excellent TLB operating skills.• Strong awareness of construction-site hazards.• Good hand-eye coordination and machine-control skills.• Ability to follow instructions and work to required levels and dimensions.• Good communication and teamwork.• Careful handling and maintenance of machinery.• Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.• Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious.• Ability to work outdoors and under challenging weather and site conditions.Interested candidates who have met the above requirements should send their applications together with certified copies of certificates and CVs to the address that is convenient, no later than 2nd October 2026: Email: hr@hejackson.com Postal Address: The Head of Human Resource H.E.
