Our client is seeking an experienced Technology Data Architect to lead the design, governance, and evolution of enterprise-grade data platforms within the Microsoft Azure ecosystem. This is a strategic role responsible for shaping cloud-native data architectures that enable secure, scalable, and high-performing data solutions while supporting business growth, innovation, and regulatory compliance
Working closely with the enterprise solutions architect and cross-functional technology teams, you will drive data modernisation initiatives, champion best practices in cloud architecture, and deliver robust data platforms that power analytics and business intelligence across the organisation.
Responsibilities:
Architect and implement enterprise-scale data platforms using Microsoft Azure technologies including Azure SQL, Azure Synapse, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure Data Lake, Azure Databricks, PySpark Notebooks, and DataverseDesign secure, scalable, resilient, and cost-effective cloud-native data architecturesLead the migration of legacy data environments to modern Azure-based platformsEstablish data modelling standards across conceptual, logical, and physical data modelsDefine and govern data lifecycle, security, metadata, lineage, and compliance in line with POPIA and GDPR requirementsEnable enterprise reporting and analytics through Power BI, Azure Analysis Services, and Azure Machine LearningProvide architectural guidance for data-driven applications and enterprise integrations across Microsoft technologiesImplement CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code (Terraform), Azure Data Factory, and automated data workflowsCollaborate with architects, engineers, developers, analysts, and business stakeholders to align technology with strategic objectives
Qualifications & Experience:
Relevant degree in IT, computer science, data science, business, or a related field.7+ years of enterprise data architecture experience, with expertise in Azure SQL, Azure Synapse Analytics, and Azure Data Lake.5+ years of experience within the Insurance industry.Proven experience designing and implementing Azure-based cloud and hybrid data solutions using Azure data factory and databricks.Strong knowledge of data modelling, data integration, and enterprise data management using Cosmos DB and Dataverse.Experience developing reporting and analytics solutions using Power BI.Solid understanding of data governance, security, POPIA, GDPR, and regulatory compliance requirements.The reference number for this position is NG61496 which is a permanent, Hybrid role in Sandton, Johannesburg offering a salary of up to R1.25mil per annum salary negotiable based on experience.
