Head Supply Chain Services Jobs in Lufwanyama – Lead at Kagem Mining Limited Kagem Mining Limited, a global leader in emerald mining, invites qualified professionals to take charge of supply chain operations as the Head – Supply Chain Services . This is a unique opportunity to lead strategic supply chain management in Lufwanyama, Copperbelt Province, Zambia, ensuring seamless procurement, warehousing, diesel management, and logistics to support uninterrupted mining activities. About the Head Supply Chain Services Role in Lufwanyama Reporting directly to the General Manager, the successful candidate will provide high-level leadership and direction across all supply chain functions. This role demands a strategic thinker with extensive experience in mining or heavy industry supply chain management to drive efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and compliance throughout the supply chain processes.
Key Responsibilities
Lead procurement planning, supplier evaluation, and contract negotiations to secure competitive terms. Establish and nurture long-term supplier partnerships to guarantee supply continuity and strategic advantages. Oversee inventory management, including stock audits and reconciliation, to maintain optimal levels and reduce shortages or excess. Ensure secure storage and accurate reporting of stock and diesel inventories. Meet procurement and inventory cost targets through effective budget management. Monitor performance indicators such as cost savings, stock turnover, and budget variances. Provide regular supply chain financial reports to the General Manager and Finance Director. Coordinate material flow with departmental leaders, managing ordering, receiving, issuing, and budget planning. Develop and implement comprehensive supply chain strategies aligned with company goals. Offer commercial expertise and advisory support to Gemfields projects within Zambia. Promote governance, transparency, compliance, digitalization, and continuous process improvements. Define supplier performance metrics and foster strategic supplier relationships. Lead, mentor, and develop procurement, warehouse, and logistics teams, encouraging accountability and teamwork. Support succession planning and enforce Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) standards.
Qualifications
and Experience Required Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related discipline. 12 to 15 years of progressive experience in supply chain, procurement, or logistics within mining or heavy industry sectors. Demonstrated leadership, stakeholder engagement, and team-building capabilities. Proven expertise in negotiation and supplier management. Strong knowledge of ERP and inventory management systems. Financial acumen with solid governance and risk management skills. Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving abilities. Hands-on experience with procurement management software and databases. Active membership in the Zambia Institute of Purchasing and Supply (ZIPS) or Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS).
