## Job Description

Medical Jobs, AAR Hospital Jobs. Responsible for evaluating and treating paediatric patients, conducting clinical procedures, managing emergencies, conducting ward rounds, making referrals, supporting intensive care, mentoring medical staff, participating in research, and promoting quality improvement. Requires an MBChB degree, Master of Medicine in Paediatrics or equivalent, APLS certification, valid registration and practising licence. The position is based in Nairobi and requires on-site work.

### Job Purpose

- Admitting, evaluating, diagnosing, treating, and providing consultation to patients from birth to young adulthood (21 years of age) concerning their physical, emotional and social health as well as treating acute and chronic disease including major complicated illnesses.

### Key Responsibilities

- Undertaking clinical procedures in Accident for Emergency, Wards, Clinics and Outpatient department.

- Initial patient management, Assessing, stabilizing and determine the disposition of patients with emergent conditions consistent with medical staff policy regarding emergency and consultative call services.

- Providing care to patients in the intensive care setting in conformance with unit policies.

- Making decisions regarding immediate management and further referral of patients

- Conducting ward rounds on daily basis

- Enhancing evidence-based practice

- Maintaining patient confidentiality and professional work ethic

- Carrying out on the job training for mentorship of Senior Registrars in the specialist recognition program and Medical Officers in the clinics and wards

- Facilitating continual medical education sessions

- Participating in major disaster management

- Participating in research, developing clinical protocols, and facilitating CME

- Championing continuous quality improvement in clinical practice and service delivery

- Advocating for patients and champion continual improvement

- Ensuring all standards are met including quality of care, turnaround times, effective communication amongst and quality customer service amongst others.

- Participating in on-call

- Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications

Education

- Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery

- Master of medicine in Paediatrics or other recognised board-certified equivalent qualifications

- Pediatric Advanced Lile Support (APLS) certification.

Professional Qualifications

- Does not require Specialist Recognition

Job Experience

- Previous working experience in a busy hospital.

Membership

- Valid registration and annual practice license

- Registered with Kenya Medical practitioners and Dentist Board.
