An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Product Owner with strong Virtual Card / Payments experience to join an innovative AI solutions business.
This is a key product role for someone who understands the payments ecosystem, virtual card products and digital financial services, and who can translate business requirements into clearly defined products and technology solutions.
The role:
You will take ownership of the product direction and delivery of a Virtual Card solution, working closely with business stakeholders, technology teams and clients to define requirements, prioritise features and drive the product through the development lifecycle.The ideal candidate will be commercially minded, technically strong and comfortable operating in an environment where AI, automation and modern payment technologies are central to the solution.Requirements:
8+ years' experience in product ownership / product managementStrong payments industry experience is essentialProven virtual card experience is essentialDeep understanding of virtual cards, card issuing and/or payment platformsExperience owning and defining payment products from concept through to deliveryStrong understanding of payment processes, integrations and digital financial servicesExperience working with technical development teams and managing product backlogsStrong experience defining user stories, acceptance criteria, requirements and use casesExcellent stakeholder management and workshop facilitation skillsAbility to translate complex business requirements into practical technology solutionsExperience working within Agile / SDLC environmentsStrong technical understanding of APIs, integrations and modern software developmentExposure to AI and LLM-based solutions would be highly advantageousExperience working with clients and managing competing prioritiesStrong analytical and problem-solving abilityExperience with testing and quality assurance across product releaseWhat we're looking for:
This is not a generic product owner role.We are specifically looking for someone who has hands-on experience with virtual cards and payments and understands how these products operate within a technology environment.You should be comfortable talking to both business and technical stakeholders, challenging requirements where necessary and taking ownership of the product outcome rather than simply documenting requirements.Reference number for this position is GZ61452 which is a contract remote offering a salary of R800 per hour, negotiable based on experience and ability.
