Appropriate tertiary qualification or IT qualification8+ years of commercial development experienceStrengths to lie in Cobol (5 years experience) Proficiency in AcuCOBOL or Micro Focus COBOLKnowledge of FlexGen RADE will be advantageousDetailed understanding of Application Maintenance Procedures and the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC)Basic proficiency in Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPointWhat you’ll be doing:
Code, debug and unit-test programs, including new applications and modifications to existing programsDesign and develop simple to moderately complex programs in line with defined technical specifications and standardsPrepare and maintain comprehensive system documentation throughout the SDLC, including design, programming, testing and release phasesProvide technical documentation support to project teams, including user manuals and training materialsInvestigate user requests and incidents, identify root causes and implement appropriate solutionsPerform application maintenance activities in accordance with established proceduresDevelop, debug and unit-test enhancements and modifications to existing systemsExecute assigned duties in accordance with IT and Operations standardsMaintain a strong understanding of application maintenance processes, development methodologies and technical standardsEnsure compliance with all relevant organisational policies, procedures, standards and controlsReference number for this position is GZ61542 which is a permanent position based in Sunninghill / Hybrid offering a salary of R1.2m per annum, negotiable based on experience and ability.
