VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT@ EKHAYA MEATS POSITION: SALES & MERCHANDISE ASSOCIATELocation: Blantyre OVERVIEW Ekhaya Meats, a subsidiary of Ekhaya Group of Companies. is seeking vibrant, dedicated, and experienced individual to join our team in Blantyre.JOB PURPOSE The Sales & Merchandise Associate is responsible for delivering excellent customer service by efficiently processing customer transactions through the Point of Sale (POS) system while ensuring attractive merchandising, product availability, food safety, and quality presentation of Ekhaya Meats products. The role contributes to achieving sales targets, maintaining accurate cash handling procedures, and ensuring that all products are displayed in accordance with company merchandising and food safety standards. RESPONSIBILITIESOperate the Point of Sale (POS) system accurately and efficiently, processing customer transactions through cash, card, and other approved payment methods.Receive customer payments, issue receipts, provide correct change, and reconcile cash entrusted at the beginning and end of each shift.Maintain strict compliance with cash handling procedures, till controls, password security, and company financial policies.Deliver exceptional customer service by greeting customers warmly, responding to enquiries professionally, and recommending suitable products.Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and organization of the checkout area, POS equipment, display shelves, and surrounding workstations.Arrange, replenish, and merchandise processed meat products to maintain attractive, fully stocked, and visually appealing displays.Ensure continuous product availability by monitoring stock levels, collecting store orders, and communicating replenishment requirements to the responsible officers.Practice proper stock rotation using the First-In, First-Out (FIFO) principle while monitoring expiry dates and removing damaged or expired products.Assist with stock receiving, inventory counts, stock reconciliations, and reporting low stock levels to management.Ensure refrigeration units and display equipment operate within required temperature standards while maintaining compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations.Support promotional activities and merchandising initiatives that drive product visibility and increase sales performance.Perform any other duties assigned by management in support of store operations. Qualifications & Work ExperienceMSCE plus a Diploma in Business Administration, Sales & Marketing, Retail Management, Accounting, or a related field.Minimum of 2 years' experience in retail sales, merchandising, cashiering, or customer service within a supermarket, FMCG, or food retail environment.Sound knowledge of Point of Sale (POS) systems, cash handling procedures, merchandising techniques, stock control, and customer service.Good understanding of food safety, hygiene standards, stock rotation (FIFO), and inventory management.Strong numerical, communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.Ability to work accurately under pressure with excellent attention to detail.Physically fit and able to stand for extended periods while working in a fast-paced retail environment.Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications will be an added advantage.PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT & EXPECTATIONSThe Sales & Merchandise Associate is expected to demonstrate honesty, integrity, professionalism, accountability, and a customer-focused attitude at all times.
