Pasted text THE ROLE PURPOSE The RM Agribusiness Cage Fishing & Aquaculture Specialist will be responsible for developing, managing, and growing Equity Bank Tanzania's commercial portfolio within the fisheries, cage fishing, aquaculture, and associated aquatic value chains. The role will provide specialized relationship management and technical support to fish farmers, cage-farming enterprises, hatcheries, feed suppliers, fish aggregators, processors, traders, cold-chain operators, equipment suppliers, cooperatives, off-takers, and other fisheries and aquaculture value chain actors. The role holder will identify, originate, structure, and manage quality financing opportunities across the aquaculture and fisheries ecosystem, while growing loans, deposits, transaction banking, and other financial products. The role will support customers to improve production efficiency, productivity, profitability, market access, and financial sustainability. The RM will serve as a technical and commercial resource on aquaculture and cage-farming value chains, with particular emphasis on production cycles, stocking densities, fingerling quality, feed management, fish health, cage infrastructure, water quality, harvesting, processing, market dynamics, and associated business and environmental risks. The position will contribute to financial inclusion and sustainable blue-economy development by linking fish farmers and fisheries enterprises to financial services, markets, technology, technical expertise, and strategic ecosystem partners. Pasted text KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Aquaculture & Fisheries Relationship Management Develop and manage strategic relationships with fish farmers, cage-farming enterprises, hatcheries, fishing enterprises, cooperatives, aggregators, processors, traders, feed suppliers, equipment providers, and off-takers. Build and maintain a strong pipeline of quality aquaculture, fisheries, and related agribusiness customers. Conduct customer visits, farm/site visits, cage-farm assessments, business reviews, and value chain assessments. Understand customers' production models, operating cycles, cash flows, financing needs, market arrangements, and growth opportunities. Develop and implement customer acquisition, retention, and portfolio deepening strategies. Identify opportunities to cross-sell loans, deposits, insurance, payments, digital banking, and other relevant financial solutions. Act as the primary relationship contact for assigned customers and coordinate resolution of customer issues with internal teams. Identify strategic anchor enterprises, hatcheries, feed manufacturers, equipment suppliers, processors, aggregators, distributors, and off-takers. Support development of structured aquaculture financing models based on production cycles, stocking, feed requirements, growth periods, harvesting schedules, and market arrangements. Identify opportunities for financing cage construction, fish farming equipment, boats, cold storage, transport, processing, feed, fingerlings, working capital, and other productive assets. Monitor fish prices, feed costs, fingerling availability, market demand, disease risks, water quality, weather patterns, regulatory developments, and other factors affecting the portfolio. Identify opportunities for value addition, fish processing, cold-chain development, packaging, distribution, and market expansion. Support customers to improve fish survival rates, growth rates, feed conversion, stocking management, harvesting efficiency, and profitability. Conduct preliminary assessment of customer financial performance, production systems, cash flows, repayment capacity, collateral, assets, market arrangements, and production risks. Assess financing requirements including cage construction, boats, engines, nets, feeding equipment, aeration equipment, cold storage, fish processing equipment, fingerlings, feed, working capital, and transport. Prepare high-quality credit proposals and supporting documentation for consideration through the Bank's credit approval processes. Assess the technical and commercial viability of aquaculture and fisheries enterprises before financing. Monitor financed customers and portfolios to identify emerging production, market, environmental, and financial risks. Monitor Portfolio at Risk (PAR) and proactively initiate remedial actions for stressed accounts. Conduct periodic site visits and business reviews to assess production performance, utilization of financing, assets, inventory, and repayment capacity. Ensure compliance with credit policies, KYC, AML, environmental and social safeguards, fisheries regulations, and all applicable Bank policies and regulations. Pasted text EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Minimum 7-10 years of relevant experience in aquaculture, fisheries, agribusiness, agricultural finance, commercial banking, value chain development, relationship management, or a related field. At least 3-5 years of experience managing aquaculture/fisheries customers, portfolios, value chains, or fisheries and aquaculture development programs. Demonstrated experience in originating and managing agricultural, fisheries, aquaculture, or agribusiness loans and/or portfolios. Practical experience working with fish farmers, cage-farming enterprises, fisher groups, hatcheries, processors, aggregators, feed companies, off-takers, or aquaculture MSMEs. Proven practical experience in aquaculture production, cage farming, fisheries, fish aggregation, processing, marketing, or value chain development.
