Job description

Refrigeration Technician role at Farmer’s Choice. Responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting refrigeration and cooling systems. Requires a relevant refrigeration or mechanical qualification and practical technical experience. The role is based in Nairobi with duties performed on-site.

Job Summary

Provide reliable, timely, and hands-on refrigeration and HVAC maintenance support, ensuring continuous availability, optimal performance, and cold-chain reliability.

Key Responsibilities

• Respond to refrigeration and HVAC breakdowns and restore systems promptly.
• Diagnose faults using systematic troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.
• Maintain chillers, compressors, condensers, evaporators, cold rooms, and freezers.
• Repair controls, sensors, pressure systems, valves, pumps, and mechanical components.
• Execute planned preventive maintenance and document all work.
• Monitor pressures, temperatures, oil, and refrigerant levels.
• Recommend permanent corrective actions for recurring failures.
• Support emergency interventions to protect product integrity.

Qualifications & Experience

• Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, HVAC Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 8 years’ relevant industrial refrigeration and HVAC maintenance experience.
• Proven FMCG, food-processing, or manufacturing experience.
