POSITION 1: PROJECTS ENGINEER (MECHANICAL)Org Unit: Projects & RDOReporting to: Projects ManagerLocation: Nchalo EstateJob Category: Fixed term ContractJob Grade: Middle ManagementJOB TYPE: Fixed ContractKEY REQUIREMENTSJob Requirements:Bachelor's degree (BSc) in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering with postgraduate education in Project Management and Professional registration with relevant bodies in Malawi.Minimum 4 years' experience in a manufacturing or industrial project environment.Proven experience in the management and implementation of large-scale projects in industrial manufacturing, sugar, mining, food processing, or related process industries.Familiarity with OCMS/PPP or similar capital planning/project tracking systems would be an advantage.Strong track record in leading mechanical engineering activities, managing technical teams, and delivering safe, reliable, and cost-effective engineering projects.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESPlan, structure, and lead the execution of improvement and capital projects using appropriate project management processes, methodologies, and tools to deliver business objectives.Identify opportunities, develop business cases, motivate stakeholders, and manage implementation to ensure projects deliver required economic, operational, and community outcomes on time and within budget.Manage the complete project lifecycle from concept to handover, including equipment or technology selection and technical reviews.Develop project scopes of work, manage requests for quotations, and oversee tender evaluations and adjudications to ensure transparent and cost-effective procurement.Align and coordinate internal resources and external vendors/contractors for flawless project execution, ensuring service level agreements (SLAs) are met.Manage changes to project scope, schedule, and costs using structured verification techniques to maintain control and transparency.Monitor procurement and escalate roadblocks to management to prevent delays in project delivery.Measure and report on project performance, progress, and expenditure against approved budgets using appropriate tools and techniques.Provide technical leadership in the execution of assigned project work packages, ensuring engineering integrity and compliance with design standards and safety regulations.Supervise contractors and site teams to maintain quality assurance and technical compliance.Ensure all projects are fully integrated into operations and maintenance systems and that all documentation is properly completed.Promote and adhere to Illovo's procedures, policies and guidelines, including, without limitation, those relating to SHERQ, Competition Law and Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC).Please send your application letters together with detailed CV with copies of relevant certificates, traceable referees and National ID to:The HR Mill HeadIllovo Sugar (Malawi) PlcPrivate Bag 50BlantyreOr through email: nchalohr@illovo.co.zaOnly shortlisted candidates will be acknowledged.
