## Job Description

### Job Summary

- The successful candidate will be reporting to the Dean, School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. The incumbent will be expected to teach Pharmacognosy and related subjects, including Medicinal Plant Chemistry, Phytochemistry, Herbal Medicine, and Natural Products Drug Discovery.

### Key Responsibilities

- Teach and assess Pharmacognosy courses to undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD students in the Pharmacy school and other health-related programs.

- Supervise student laboratory sessions in phytochemical screening, extraction, isolation, and characterization of natural products.

- Develop and update laboratory manuals, course materials, and digital content for pharmacognosy and related subjects.

- Participate in curriculum development, review, and program accreditation activities.

- Conduct and publish research in pharmacognosy, ethnopharmacology, or natural products chemistry.

- Secure research grants and engage in collaborative research projects.

- Mentor students in academic and research activities.

- Participate in School and University committees, community engagement, and professional service.

- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Dean.

### Qualifications and Professional Experience

- A B. Pharmacy, M. Pharmacy in Pharmacognosy, Phytochemistry, Pharmaceutical Chemistry (Natural Products), or a closely related field from a recognized/accredited university.

- A PhD in Pharmacognosy or Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related discipline, will be a distinct advantage.

- At least three (3) years of university teaching experience in pharmacognosy or related areas.

- Evidence of research and publications in peer-reviewed journals.

- Registration with the relevant professional body (e.g., Pharmacy and Poisons Board).

- Candidates with a master’s degree must demonstrate an intention to pursue a PhD.
