Key Roles and Responsibilities
Strategic Operations Leadership
The Operations & Performance Manager provides strategic leadership for the organization’s internal operations, ensuring that systems, resources and processes support the effective delivery of the Strategic Plan. The role continuously assesses organizational performance, identifies opportunities for improvement and leads initiatives that strengthen institutional effectiveness.
The Manager will
Lead the implementation of organizational operational priorities and institutional strengthening initiatives.
Translate strategic objectives into operational plans and performance targets.
Strengthen organizational systems, policies and standard operating procedures.
Promote efficiency, innovation and continuous improvement across operational functions.
Advise the Managing Trustee on operational risks, organizational capacity and institutional priorities.
Foster collaboration between operational and programme teams to ensure integrated organizational performance.
Organizational Performance and Institutional Effectiveness
The Manager is responsible for developing and maintaining systems that promote accountability, performance management and organizational excellence. This includes strengthening planning, reporting and organizational learning processes that enable informed decision-making and continuous improvement.
The Manager will
Develop and monitor organizational performance indicators and departmental scorecards.
Coordinate annual work planning and quarterly organizational performance reviews.
Monitor implementation of strategic and operational plans.
Produce organizational performance reports for senior leadership and governance oversight.
Promote a culture of accountability, results-based management and continuous learning.
Lead institutional improvement initiatives arising from organizational assessments, audits and evaluations.
Finance, Administration and Resource Management
The Operations & Performance Manager provides strategic oversight of the organization’s financial and administrative systems to ensure accountability, efficiency and compliance. Working closely with the Finance Team, the Manager ensures that organizational resources are managed responsibly and support programme delivery.
The Manager will
Provide operational oversight of budgeting, financial planning and resource utilization.
Monitor implementation of financial controls and internal accountability systems.
Support annual budgeting, forecasting and financial performance reviews.
Ensure compliance with statutory obligations, donor requirements and organizational policies.
Oversee administration, procurement, logistics, asset management and facilities management.
Strengthen systems for contract management, inventory control and organizational resource planning.
Human Resources and Organizational Development
The position provides strategic oversight of human resource systems and organizational development, fostering a high-performing, inclusive and values-driven workplace.
The Manager will
Lead workforce planning, recruitment and onboarding processes.
Strengthen performance management systems and staff development initiatives.
Promote staff wellbeing, organizational culture and employee engagement.
Ensure implementation of HR policies, procedures and employment legislation.
Support succession planning, leadership development and organizational change initiatives.
Promote diversity, equity, inclusion and safeguarding across the organization.
Governance, Risk Management and Compliance
The Operations & Performance Manager plays a central role in strengthening institutional governance, organizational integrity and compliance. The role ensures that the organization maintains effective systems for risk management, legal compliance and accountability.
The Manager will
Coordinate implementation of governance policies and Board decisions.
Support the Managing Trustee in preparing governance and compliance reports.
Strengthen enterprise risk management and internal control systems.
Ensure compliance with donor agreements, statutory obligations and organizational policies.
Oversee implementation of safeguarding, data protection, procurement and financial compliance frameworks.
Coordinate organizational audits and support implementation of audit recommendations.
Technology, Information Systems and Digital Transformation
The Manager provides strategic oversight of the organization’s technology infrastructure and digital systems to improve operational efficiency and organizational resilience.
The Manager will
Oversee ICT systems, cybersecurity and digital infrastructure.
Strengthen organizational data governance and information management.
Promote digital transformation initiatives that improve operational effectiveness.
Support implementation of technology solutions that enhance organizational performance.
Ensure business continuity planning and information security measures are maintained.
Collaborate with programme teams to ensure technology supports service delivery and organizational learning.
Leadership, Collaboration and Organizational Culture
As a member of the Senior Management Team, the Operations & Performance Manager provides leadership that promotes collaboration, accountability and operational excellence across the organization.
The Manager will
Supervise and mentor operational staff while promoting professional growth and high performance.

Qualifications and Experience: The ideal candidate will possess:
A Master’s degree in Business Administration, Organizational Development, Human Resource Management, Finance, Operations Management, Public Administration or a related discipline.
Professional certifications such as: PMP; PRINCE2; CIPD; CHRP-K; CPA(K); CISA; ISO Lead Auditor; Lean Six Sigma; Results-Based Management; Change Management; Corporate Governance
A minimum of eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in organizational operations, institutional management or nonprofit administration and at least five (5) years of experience in a senior management or leadership role.
Demonstrated experience overseeing finance, administration, human resources, procurement and compliance functions.
Strong knowledge of governance, enterprise risk management and organizational development.
Experience working with donor-funded organizations and regulatory compliance frameworks.
Excellent analytical, leadership and organizational management skills.
