VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT@DROP OF COMPASSION (DOC)POSITION: NURSERY TEACHERLocation: Mandimu Centre, Mpemba – BlantyreOVERVIEW Drop of Compassion (DOC), through its Seeds of Hope Project, is seeking to recruit a suitably qualified, highly motivated, caring, and hardworking individual for the position of Nursery Teacher at Mandimu Centre in Mpemba, Blantyre.JOB SUMMARY The Nursery Teacher will be responsible for providing quality early childhood education and care to children at Mandimu Centre. The successful candidate will create a safe, supportive, and stimulating learning environment that promotes the children's intellectual, social, emotional, physical, and moral development.Qualifications and RequirementsA minimum of a Certificate in Early Childhood Development (ECD), Nursery Education, Early Childhood Education, or a related field from a recognized institution.At least one year of experience working in an ECD, nursery, preschool, or related learning environment will be an added advantage.Good knowledge of early childhood teaching and learning methods.Ability to prepare and deliver age-appropriate lessons and learning activities.Good communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work patiently and effectively with young children.Demonstrated creativity in developing teaching and learning activities using appropriate materials.Good organizational and classroom management skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Commitment to safeguarding, child protection, and the wellbeing of children.Must be hardworking, trustworthy, responsible, and committed to the values and objectives of Drop of Compassion.Duties and ResponsibilitiesDuties shall include, but are not limited to, the following:Plan and conduct age-appropriate nursery lessons and activities.Provide a safe, caring, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.Teach children basic literacy, numeracy, communication, social, creative, and practical skills appropriate to their age.Prepare teaching and learning materials for classroom activities.Monitor and assess children's learning and development and maintain appropriate records.Identify children's learning needs and provide appropriate support.Encourage good behaviour, discipline, cooperation, confidence, and respect among learners.Maintain proper classroom cleanliness, organization, and safety.Communicate appropriately with parents, guardians, and the Centre Coordinator regarding children's progress and wellbeing.Participate in centre activities, meetings, and other programmes as assigned.Submit regular reports on nursery activities, attendance, children's progress, achievements, challenges, and support required.Ensure that all activities are conducted in accordance with Drop of Compassion's policies and child safeguarding standards.Perform any other duties relevant to the position as assigned by the Centre Coordinator or management.Remuneration and BenefitsThe position offers a competitive salary package commensurate with the candidate’s experience and qualifications.HOW TO APPLY Interested applicants are invited to submit their CV, including three traceable referees and copies of relevant certificates, consolidated into a single PDF document.Please send your application via email: issa@dropofcompassion.orgApplication Deadline: 26 September 2026Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
