Job description
Main Duties
- Managing, stabilizing and treating all patients-both minor ailments and emergencies.
- Assessing the urgency and severity of presenting problems through history taking, examination and investigation.
- Admitting, discharging and referring to specialists as appropriate.
- Referring for diagnostic, therapeutic and support services as required.
- Undertaking clinical and minor procedures in the unit
- Participating in hospital rounds including fixing cannula, fixing catheters, reviewing patients, etc.
- Ensuring that all patients coming to the clinic are attended to within reasonable time
- Participating in the ambulance Services.
- Preparing weekly work/activity plans for review.
- Carrying out patient reviews and providing feedback to the respective consultants.
- Monitoring closely morbidity and mortality trends together with all the other health indicators.
- Participating in primary health care through counseling and outreach programs.
- Participating in continuous medical education programs.
- Carrying out other relevant or requested duties as may be required.
- Participating in quality improvement initiatives within the department and provide reports as required.
- Any other duty assigned.
Required Qualifications for the Position
- Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBChB)
- BLS, ACLS & ATLS Training
- Computer Proficiency.
- Minimum 2 years as a Medical Officer
- Registered with KMPDC with a valid practicing license
- Previous experience in a busy Hospital will be an added advantage
