Job description

Main Duties

• Managing, stabilizing and treating all patients-both minor ailments and emergencies.
• Assessing the urgency and severity of presenting problems through history taking, examination and investigation.
• Admitting, discharging and referring to specialists as appropriate.
• Referring for diagnostic, therapeutic and support services as required.
• Undertaking clinical and minor procedures in the unit
• Participating in hospital rounds including fixing cannula, fixing catheters, reviewing patients, etc.
• Ensuring that all patients coming to the clinic are attended to within reasonable time
• Participating in the ambulance Services.
• Preparing weekly work/activity plans for review.
• Carrying out patient reviews and providing feedback to the respective consultants.
• Monitoring closely morbidity and mortality trends together with all the other health indicators.
• Participating in primary health care through counseling and outreach programs.
• Participating in continuous medical education programs.
• Carrying out other relevant or requested duties as may be required.
• Participating in quality improvement initiatives within the department and provide reports as required.
• Any other duty assigned.

Required Qualifications for the Position

• Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBChB)
• BLS, ACLS & ATLS Training
• Computer Proficiency.
• Minimum 2 years as a Medical Officer
• Registered with KMPDC with a valid practicing license
• Previous experience in a busy Hospital will be an added advantage
