We are in search of individuals who can champion Barrick’s DNA by: - Communicating Honestly, Transparently, and Acting with Integrity - Exhibiting a Results-Driven approach - Delivering solutions that are Fit for Purpose - Dedicating themselves to Building a Sustainable Legacy - Taking Responsibility and being Accountable - Committing to Zero Harm - Cultivating strong and meaningful Partnerships Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, you will be responsible for the repair, servicing and maintenance of the mine dewatering pump fleet, including both diesel-driven and electric-powered pumps. The role ensures pit and sump water levels are controlled so that mining operations can continue safely and without interruption. ### Your duties will include but are not limited to the following - Carry out planned maintenance, inspections, servicing and breakdown repairs on diesel-driven and electric-powered dewatering pumps across the open pit, sumps and water management infrastructure. - Strip, inspect, rebuild and assemble pumps, including impellers, casings, wear rings, shafts, bearings, mechanical seals and gland packing, to OEM specifications and tolerances. - Service, diagnose and repair pump diesel engines, including fuel, cooling, lubrication, air intake and exhaust systems, turbochargers and engine controllers. - Maintain the mechanical components of electric pumps, including submersible pumps, motor-to-pump couplings, alignment and bearing housings, working with electricians on isolation and electrical faults. - Carry out shaft alignment, coupling replacement, vibration checks and priming system (vacuum pump and compressor) repairs. - Inspect and repair pump skids, trailers, fuel tanks, suction and discharge hoses, pipework, valves, flanges and HDPE pipe connections. - Monitor pump performance (flow, pressure, engine hours and fuel use) and identify signs of cavitation, wear or pending failure. - Support the relocation, installation and commissioning of pumps and pipelines as pit and sump levels change, including safe lifting and positioning. - Respond promptly to pump breakdowns, especially during the rainy season, to minimise pit flooding and production loss. - Complete work orders, service sheets, parts usage and pump hour records accurately in SAP. - Maintain workshop and field housekeeping, correct fuel and oil handling, and spill prevention in line with environmental requirements. - Repair and maintain Lighting plants, compressors, welding machines, lighting towers and engines ### To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements - Full Grade Twelve (12) School Certificate. - Minimum Craft Certificate in Mechanical Fitting, Electrical or (TEVETA accredited) or equivalent - Minimum 3 years’ experience maintaining various types of dewatering pumps in an open pit mine. - Experience with diesel-driven and electric-powered pumps, including centrifugal, submersible, vacuum-assisted self-priming pumps, Lighting plants, compressors, welding machines, lighting towers and engines. - Ability to read and interpret OEM manuals, pump performance curves and mechanical drawings. - Knowledge of shaft alignment, bearing fitting and mechanical seal installation. - Familiarity with CMMS systems (SAP or similar) is an advantage. - Member of the Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ). - Holder of a valid Zambian driver’s licence will be an added advantage. - Must have excellent written and oral communication skills in English. ### What We Can Offer You - A comprehensive compensation package including bonuses and site-specific benefits - The ability to make a difference and lasting impact - Work in a dynamic, collaborative, progressive, and high-performing team - Opportunities to grow and learn with industry colleagues - Access to a variety of career opportunities across the organisation Applicants who meet the above stated requirements are invited to submit their CVs to the Job Portal link: http://jobs.barrick.com/.
