Job description
Job Purpose
- Reporting to the Head of Finance, the role holder will be responsible for the planning and budgeting process for the Bank as well as periodic monitoring of performance against set targets; drive financial results by partnering with the businesses through periodic financial performance reviews and help set targets and forecasts; manage finance-related information systems and business databases that deliver detailed reports and analysis of the performance of business segments, products, branches, relationship management and distribution channels; and drive cost and revenue optimisation and analysis.
Key Responsibilities
Business Planning, Budgeting & Forecasting
- Support business strategic thrust through planning, budgeting, forecasting and monitoring of business performance.
- Analyse and interpret financial and management information, including variance analysis, to aid planning, coordination, controlling, responsibility allocation, accountability and delegation.
- Advise on the implications of new initiatives and product launches, risk profiling and the financial health of the businesses.
Business MIS & Business Intelligence
- Ensure timely provision of relevant periodic performance figures for Distribution, Corporate and Treasury businesses of the Bank on a daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly basis.
- Provide business intelligence through performance analysis by business segment, products, branches, distribution channels, Relationship Management and customers.
- Provide KPIs for frontline staff, including Branch Managers, RMs and segments.
- Manage accounts and reporting, including cost allocation and Funds Transfer Pricing engines at granular levels, to enable production of scorecards, dashboards, Business MIS, business segment, product and customer profitability reports, and other cube reports for Corporate Bank, Retail Bank and Treasury segments.
- Contribute to strategic channel management by analysing and interpreting channel MIS data.
Financial Reporting
- Provide backup for the Manager, Financial Controls, whenever required, in preparing monthly, quarterly and year-end statutory accounts and supporting the statutory audit.
- Prepare financial accounts for management review, Group reporting and production of Board papers.
Cost Control & Revenue Optimisation
- Identify opportunities within various units and channels for efficiency improvement.
- Conduct revenue assurance audits and advise on pricing and cost of funds at a granular level.
Project Accounting & Reporting
- Ensure all projects are properly documented and supported by documentary evidence of approvals by the relevant Committees. All major projects must have approved PARs covering financial analysis and approvals.
- Ensure all projects undergo a post-implementation review (PIR), and challenge business owners to include projected benefits in their future budgets.
Principal Accountabilities & Key Performance Indicators
Business Intelligence / MIS
- Business planning, budgeting, forecasting and performance monitoring.
- Supervise internal reporting of the Bank.
- Produce performance reports by customers, business segments, products, channels, branches and RMs, and
provide KPI measures for all frontline staff. - Ensure an updated MIS database is always available to business users.
- Improve turnaround time for ad-hoc and tactical MIS requests.
- Deliver prompt, accurate and concise Management Information for decision-making.
- Improve understanding and proper explanation of all business assumptions.
- Continuously improve the standard and quality of management reports.
Cost Control
- Provide cost-centre-level yardsticks and periodically produce cost centre reports that highlight
variances against budgets and prompt managers to take corrective action.

Job Specification
Education
- Fully qualified Certified Public or Chartered Accountant, or similar qualification.
- University degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Studies.
Work Experience & Technical Skills
- Minimum 7 years’ post-qualification experience in an accounting or audit environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and good verbal and written communication skills.
- Good numerical skills.
- Good computer skills, especially Microsoft Excel.
- Data mining skills using SQL.
