### Logistics Officer (Fleet & Transport)

Location: Lusaka, Zambia
Employment Type: Full-time

BGS is looking for a Logistics Officer to keep our vehicles, drivers and logistics support running safely, compliantly and cost-effectively across our field, regional, technical and commercial operations.

### WHAT YOU’LL DO

- Transport & fleet operations: Coordinate daily transport for staff, equipment and field teams. Manage vehicle allocation, trip scheduling, drivers and third-party transport providers, including urgent call-outs.

- Asset registry & records: Maintain an accurate vehicle and logistics asset register and individual vehicle files. Run periodic physical verifications and reconcile them to the register.

- Procurement & disposal: Support vehicle acquisition from specification and quotations through to delivery, registration and handover. Coordinate approved disposals and replacements.

- Maintenance & repairs: Build and manage preventive maintenance schedules, work with approved workshops, review quotations and invoices, and minimise downtime.

- Compliance & safety: Track licences, insurance and inspections. Support incident investigations and insurance claims. Promote safe driving and control over vehicle keys and documents.

- Fuel & cost control: Monitor fuel usage against mileage, investigate variances, and report on fleet operating costs and budgets.

- Supplier & regional support: Manage logistics suppliers against agreed service levels and support regional teams with consistent fleet and transport controls.

### WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain, Transport Management, Business Administration, Operations Management or a related field (a professional qualification in logistics, supply chain or fleet management is an advantage)

- 3–5 years’ experience in logistics, fleet, transport, facilities or operations administration, preferably in a field-based or multi-site environment

- Hands-on experience with vehicle records, maintenance schedules, suppliers, insurance, licensing and statutory compliance

- Experience working with budgets, quotations, purchase orders and invoices

- Strong Excel/MS Office and reporting skills (ERP, fleet or asset-management system experience is a plus)

- A valid driver’s licence and a practical understanding of vehicle operations and maintenance

- Excellent organisation, attention to detail, communication and negotiation skills

- Ability to work under pressure and respond quickly to urgent operational needs

- High integrity and sound judgement when handling company assets and suppliers
