Medical Jobs. AAR Hospital Jobs. Locum Radiographer performing routine and specialized CT and MRI examinations, requiring a Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Radiography with a valid KENRA practicing license and a minimum of 3 years experience, in a healthcare environment, on-site role.
Job Purpose
Provision of radiological services through procedures and policy approved.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Independently perform routine and specialized CT and MRI examinations according to approved protocols.
- Select and optimize appropriate imaging protocols, sequences, coils and technical parameters to achieve diagnostic-quality images.
- Perform specialized examinations including CT angiography, trauma CT, MPR/MIP/3D reconstructions, advanced MRI studies and contrast-enhanced examinations within scope of practice.
- Conduct appropriate patient preparation, screening, positioning and monitoring throughout examinations.
- Safely administer contrast media in accordance with approved protocols and respond appropriately to adverse reactions.
- Ensure accurate patient identification, examination selection, image labelling and transmission to PACS/RIS.
- Competently perform routine, emergency, trauma, portable/mobile and theatre radiography.
- Apply appropriate positioning, exposure and image optimization techniques.
- Provide general radiography support based on departmental workload and operational requirements.
- Maintain patient dignity, privacy, confidentiality and effective communication at all times.
- Apply ALARA principles and radiation protection measures during ionizing radiation examinations.
- Strictly adhere to MRI safety screening procedures and prevent unauthorized or unsafe items from entering the MRI environment.
- Recognize and appropriately respond to patient deterioration, contrast reactions and imaging-related emergencies.
- Consistently produce high-quality diagnostic images while minimizing repeat examinations.
- Perform routine equipment checks and promptly report equipment faults or abnormalities.
- Participate in quality assurance, preventive maintenance, protocol optimization and departmental audits.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure timely image transfer and availability for reporting.
- Provide imaging services during assigned shifts, including emergency, night, weekend and public holiday coverage where required.
- Comply with departmental SOPs, hospital policies, professional standards and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in CMEs, competency assessments, in-service training and quality improvement initiatives.
- Work collaboratively with radiologists, clinicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals.
Qualifications
Education
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Radiography/Medical Imaging from a recognized institution
- Valid KENRA practicing license.
Job Experience
- Minimum of 3 (year) experience preferably in a hospital environment
- Minimum total of 4 years working experience.
- Experience in a level 5 or 6 Hospital or Mission Hospital will be preferred.
- Excellent knowledge in RIS/PACS systems
