VACANCYThe Malawi Enterprise Development Fund Limited (MEDF) is a government owned Microfinance Institution whose mission is to economically empower ordinary and underserved Malawians (particularly women, youth, and persons with disability) through the provision of quality, affordable and sustainable microfinance services for Improved.MEDF invites applications from suitably qualified, mature, ambitious, professional Malawi Nationals with a passion for results and respect for ethics and hands-on experience to fill the vacant position of:Legal Services Manager – MF3Job Type: Three-year contract, renewable based on performance.Responsible to: The Chief Executive OfficerReporting to: The Director of Legal ServicesJob PurposeTo provide legal support and advisory services to the Company, ensuring utmost confidentiality of all matters dealt with.Key Duties and ResponsibilitiesTaking minutes of the Board of Directors and its sub-committees as delegated by the Chief Executive Officer/ Board.Conducting litigations initiated by and against the company before the appropriate courts in close coordination with the function concerned.Providing legal support in drafting and vetting agreements, MOUs and contracts for the Company as and when required.Providing legal advice and opinion on legal issues affecting the company.Proactively resolving legal issues and providing solutions to avoid litigation.Guiding the company in interpretation of laws regarding all aspects of the company.Setting up systems to ensure compliance with statutory requirements.Evaluating the impact of evolving legal/statutory regulations on the Company’s operations, highlighting the same and contributing to the business planning processInterfacing relevant parties on Company’s behalf to handle litigation, obtain legal advice and legal servicesProducing periodic reports
