STADIO Higher Education is looking for a Lecturer and Module Coordinator: PART TIME  Computer/Electronics/Embedded Systems Engineering (Engineering Programming Modules)  Purpose The Lecturer and Module Coordinator: Computer/Electronics/Embedded Systems Engineering is responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and learning in engineering programming and related modules, while coordinating their effective delivery. The role involves facilitating theoretical and practical learning in programming, embedded systems, electronics, and computer engineering; developing and assessing learning activities; supporting students in the application of programming and engineering concepts; and ensuring that module content is relevant to current industry and professional requirements. The position also provides academic leadership in module coordination, assessment, moderation, and collaboration with colleagues to ensure a consistent, engaging, and high-quality student learning experience. Key Responsibilities Lecturing Responsibilities Lecturing Plan, prepare for and deliver lectures in-venue and online.Engage with and provide feedback to coordinating lecturers and programme coordinators to improve teaching and learning.Participate in programme review initiatives providing feedback in respect of specific module/programme design and content. Assessment Assess student work.Provide feedback to students.Internally moderate the assessment of colleagues.Engage with coordinating lecturers on assessments and provide feedback on successes/challenges. Student support Set and communicate consultation hours as per STADIO norms and consult with students at their request. Manage the Module Q&A forum.Contribute to student induction and orientation, as required.Manage at-risk students. Scholarship Improve the quality of own teaching through the scholarship of teaching & learning.Share findings with STADIO teaching community.Participate in community engagement initiatives aligned with STADIO’s goals, where relevant. Administration and campus community Participate in programme, school and campus meetings.Assist in student recruitment, admission and CAT applications where necessary.Maintain accurate records and complete documentation as required.Take part and support campus activities, as required by HOC. Professional development Stay abreast of developments in the field of expertise.Stay abreast of developments in the field of teaching and learning.Participate in training and development activities, and complete formal STADIO lecturer development initiatives.Actively participate in professional networks and associations.Pursue further qualifications or certifications, as necessary. Module Coordination Responsibilities: Study material development Oversee and manage the development or review of study guides (full or wrap-around).Seek feedback from all stakeholders and keep a record of required changes to study guides in anticipation of the review cycle.Monitor the appropriateness of the prescribed textbook and editions.Ensure continued alignment between study guide and textbook, where applicable.Update study guides to cater for new textbook editions. Assessment Draft all formal assessments for allocated modules.Consider internal and external pre-moderation feedback and implement changes as requiredConduct internal pre-moderation for modules in field of expertise.Conduct meetings with all campus lecturers to discuss the assessment strategy.Brief markers and moderators and provide content support during the marking process.Mark a prescribed minimum number of assessments (+- 3) to fine tune marking guideline/memorandum.Consider markers’ reports and decide on appropriate action.Consider moderators’ reports and decide on appropriate action, in consultation with campus lecturers, Head of School and subject coordinator.Sign off on assessment results.Actively participate in the investigation/management of modules with continuously low pass rates. Learning journey design Conduct research in learning design in the field of expertise.Attend both internal and external training sessions, workshops, and conferences to enhance skills in module design and assessment.Stay informed about emerging trends in higher education and instructional methodologies.Actively collaborate with campus lecturers to continuously enhance the learning journey. LMS course environment Design and draft materials needed for the course environment (announcements, etc.).Populate and maintain the course environment for modules owned. Learning & student support Invite guest speakers to enrich modules and host two live online sessions per semester to support student understanding and engagement.Draft additional support materials for students.Research and professional development Conduct research in the field of expertise and/or learning design in the field of expertise.Attend both internal and external training sessions, workshops, and conferences to enhance skills in module design and assessment.Stay informed about emerging trends in higher education and instructional methodologies.Engage with industry, professional networks and associations to enhance collaboration and knowledge sharing.Skills & Competencies Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to engage professionally with students, colleagues, management, and other stakeholders.Strong organisational, administrative, time management, and coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities, prioritise effectively, and consistently meet deadlines.High levels of self-motivation, accountability, and initiative, with the ability to work independently, take ownership of responsibilities, and follow tasks through to completion.Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, with the ability to contribute positively to shared goals and work effectively within a multidisciplinary academic environment.Resilience and adaptability, with the ability to respond constructively to change, shifting priorities, and the demands of a busy campus environment.A high level of computer proficiency, with sound knowledge of digital tools, information technology systems, and online learning platforms used within higher education.A student-centred approach, with empathy and sensitivity towards students with diverse needs, backgrounds, and levels of academic preparedness.The ability to exercise sound judgement, resolve day-to-day challenges, and remain professional and solution-focused under pressure.A genuine passion for education, student development, and academic leadership.A professional, approachable, and dependable manner, with a willingness to contribute to the broader academic and operational activities of the campus.Willingness to work on Saturdays and outside normal working hours when required.

Requirements

Honours Qualifications & Experience Minimum Honours (NQF 8) qualification in Engineering [Computer/Electronics/ Embedded Systems].Candidate/ Professional ECSA registration (Professional registration is preferred).Sound lecturing, facilitation, and assessment skills, with a strong commitment to effective teaching and student learning.Strong background in Computer/Electronics/Embedded Systems.Sound teaching and learning, assessment, and study material development skills.Ability to apply instructional design principles to develop engaging, interactive, and well-aligned learning experiences.High level of computer proficiency with good knowledge of modern Information Technology infrastructure and online learning platforms.Minimum three years lecturing/ tutoring experience.Experience in online learning environments will be an advantage.
