An established engineering firm in Northriding, Johannesburg has an opening for a strong Junior Structural Engineer. The ideal person has a knack and passion for assessing structures and more importantly, WHY and how they succeeded or failed. The ideal candidate has and is able to: 2 to 4 years on site (field) experienceStructural engineering experience handling concrete, steel, timber and masonry.Be able to utilise and draw in Revit and AutoCADBe able to utilise Prokon.Be proficient in MS Office toolsExcellent written and verbal English communication - spelling and grammar skills will be assessed. This position requires a well-read and curious mindset who enjoys researching and writing informed, well detailed findings and reports.The ideal candidate has the following qualification/s: Preferred: Bachelor of engineering (Beng) or bachelor of science in engineering (BSc Eng) Will consider: Bachelor of engineering technology (BEngTech) degrees from a reputable universityFurthermore: The ideal candidate is based in Johannesburg, or willing and able to relocate to JHB North, as well as able to travel in and around South Africa and Africa. This position requires the candidate to have their own vehicle. This role does not allow for public transport or Uber options as you will be required to be onsite at differing times.  The ideal candidate is available to start immediately or within a 30 day period. The ideal start date for this position is 5 JANUARY 2027. This is a position for someone hungry to bring their knowledge to the forefront and develop their analysis skills further. The right person has practical experience with structural failings and the know-how to find the faults. This person will be required to prepare written and verbal reports on their findings and work with various other parties in the engineering realm - draughtsmen, architectures, senior civil engineers etc.

Degree Analytical and methodicalKnowledge of building codes and practicesTeamwork and communication: The ability to translate technical data into clear sketches or reports for senior engineersTime management: The ability to organize and prioritize multiple design tasks to meet strict project deadlinesInterpersonal skillsStrong technical writing skills to produce comprehensive, defensible forensic engineering reports, scopes of work, and repair cost estimations that can stand up to scrutiny from insurance loss adjusters, legal teams, and clients.Capable of troubleshooting live site challenges, coordinating effectively with main contractors, sub-contractors, and project managers, and ensuring strict adherence to safety and quality standards.Practical knowledge in designing cost-effective remedial and repair solutions for damaged structuresA firm grasp of local building regulations, SANS standards etc Apply by email: careers@lumostalent.co.site
