About the Position

Mpala Research Centre is seeking to recruit a motivated, enthusiastic and technology-oriented IT Intern to support the Centre’s information technology operations.

The IT Intern will gain practical experience in providing technical support to staff, maintaining IT equipment and systems, troubleshooting hardware and software issues and assist with the day-to-day administration of IT services. The role will work closely with staff across departments to ensure reliable and effective use of technology in support of Mpala’s research, conservation and administrative operations.

### Responsibilities

- Assist in basic technical support and troubleshooting for computers, printers, software and other IT equipment.

- Assist with the installation and maintenance of network equipment.

- Support staff with basic software, connectivity and technology-related queries.

- Assist with deployment and setup of IoT hardware.

- Assist in the maintenance of IT assets inventory register.

- Assist in identity management and user access control tasks.

- Assist in data backup and recovery procedures.

- Assist in maintaining and updating IT documentation and user guides.

- Assist in operations control room activities.

- Perform any other duties relevant to the IT function as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications 

- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a closely related field.

- Basic knowledge of computer hardware & software.

- Basic knowledge in wired and wireless networks.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

- Good problem-solving and analytical skills.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

- Willingness to learn and work in a team to develop practical IT skills.
