IT Director – Technology, Data & Digital Platforms

Job description

A global industry alliance representing 800+ communication service providers, technology companies, hyperscalers, consultancies, and systems integrators is seeking an experienced IT Director to lead its Technology, Data, and Digital Platforms function. The successful candidate will be responsible for defining and executing the organisation’s technology strategy and roadmap, while driving delivery across digital platforms, IT operations, data, cloud, and AI. This is a hands-on leadership position suited to a technology leader who can effectively balance strategic vision with execution, cost management, quality, governance, and risk within a lean and fast-paced environment. Responsibilities: Define and execute the technology, data and digital strategy.Lead digital platforms, engineering, DevOps and IT operations.Deliver secure, scalable and cost-effective digital experiences.Build trusted data, analytics and governance capabilities.Develop AI-ready platforms and enable practical AI solutions.Own technology roadmaps, priorities, architecture and governance.Lead the technology team and build a high-performance culture.Manage budgets, vendors, security, risk and technology investment.Drive automation, simplification and continuous improvement.Ensure technology delivers measurable organisational and member value.Qualifications and experience: Degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering or related discipline.Significant senior technology leadership experience.Proven track record delivering digital platforms and technology outcomes.Strong experience across cloud, SaaS, web, APIs, integration and DevOps.Experience with data platforms, analytics and AI enablement.Strong budget, vendor and stakeholder management experience.Commercially minded with the ability to balance cost, speed, quality and risk.Comfortable operating hands-on in a lean, fast-moving environment.Digital and technology transformationCloud, platforms and architectureData, analytics and AIEngineering and DevOpsThe reference number for this position is NG61502 which is a permanent, Hybrid position based in the Johannesburg offering a cost to company of up to R1.5mil CTC negotiable on experience and ability.
