Role Objective
We are seeking an experienced, mature, and results-driven Human Resource Managerto lead the human resources department and oversee overall HR functions. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between management and staff, manage the complete employee lifecycle, drive organizational culture, maintain staff welfare, and ensure smooth operational workflows, legal compliance, and a positive working environment that aligns with company and industry standards.
Core Duties and Responsibilities
Handle end-to-end recruitment across all departments including Front Office, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Kitchen, Maintenance, and Finance by preparing job adverts, posting openings, screening candidates, interviewing, and leading selection committees.
Run structured onboarding and orientation programs to help new hires easily adapt to the hotel\'s culture and operating standards.
Handle probation reviews and staff confirmations.
Partner with department heads on workforce planning to match seasonal staffing needs with hotel occupancy changes.
Build a positive work culture by resolving employee grievances, managing employee relations, and keeping communication open between staff and management.
Run the hotel’s performance review process by helping managers set KPIs, carry out evaluations, and pinpoint staff training needs.
Manage disciplinary matters fairly under company policy and Kenyan labor laws by carrying out investigations and leading hearings.
Comply with all Kenyan labor laws and statutory rules, including the Employment Act, OSHA, WIBA, and NITA.
Monitor labor law changes and guide management on updating policies and reducing risks.
Keep secure and accurate personnel files, contracts, leave sheets, and statutory papers.
Prepare and check monthly payroll details, covering attendance, overtime, allowances, salary advances, and deductions.
Run staff welfare initiatives, including meals, uniforms, transport, team-building events, and staff welfare programs.
Oversee leave scheduling (annual, sick, maternity, and paternity) to keep hotel operations running smoothly.
Spot skill gaps and organize internal and external training on customer service, safety, etiquette, and technical skills.
Run employee engagement programs, wellness campaigns, and recognition schemes like \"Employee of the Month\" to keep staff motivated.
Provide executive management with strategic advice on HR trends, labor cost control, and boosting productivity.
Job Specifications and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management from a reputable institution.
Professional HR certifications (e. g, CHRP-K) will be an added advantage.
At least 3 years of hands-on experience in a senior HR role, preferably within the hospitality industry (hotels, resorts)
