Illovo Sugar (Malawi) plc is part of Illovo Sugar Africa Group, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Associated British Foods plc (ABF).The company is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the position of HSE Compliance Officer.Organisational Unit: HSEReports to: HSE ManagerJob Category: PermanentJOB TYPE:PermanentApplication Deadline: 23 October 2026POSITION: HSE Compliance OfficerDUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIESPlan and coordinate internal and external HSE audits, including NOSA, ISO, legal and corporate audits, covering schedules, readiness plans and auditor logistics.Produce monthly and periodic compliance, audit and action-closure reports showing open, closed and overdue status.Follow up monthly on open actions, escalate overdue or high-risk items, and verify and record closure with supporting evidence.Support incident and non-conformance governance by tracking investigations to completion and confirming preventive actions.Verify that firefighting equipment, hydrants, extinguishers and detection systems are certified, serviced, inspected and fit for purpose.Analyse trends across findings, near misses and non-conformances to identify recurring risks and improvement priorities.Track firefighter competency, training and medical fitness requirements across the fire teams.Maintain the legal register and monitor changes in HSE legislation, standards and permit conditions applicable to the site.Uphold uniform fire safety standards across the three fire response teams—Security, Agriculture and Manufacturing—ensuring each team remains ready to respond.Promote and adhere to Illovo’s procedures, policies and guidelines, including whistleblowing, competition law and anti-bribery and corruption (ABC) requirements.
