Job description

We are building a House Manager pool to be considered for future job openings for House Managers Agencies Association (HMAA).

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly organized, trustworthy, and experienced House Manager to oversee the daily operations of a private residence while providing exceptional childcare support. The ideal candidate will seamlessly blend household management duties such as scheduling, housekeeping supervision, and meal planning with proactive, nurturing childcare for our children. You should be a proactive problem-solver who prioritizes the safety, development, and well-being of the family above all else.

Key Responsibilities

Household Management:
  • Manage the daily operations of the household, ensuring a clean, orderly, and well-maintained environment.
  • Coordinate and supervise household staff (e.g., cleaners, cooks) to ensure tasks are completed to a high standard.
  • Manage grocery shopping, meal planning, and inventory tracking for household supplies.
  • Oversee household errands, including managing service providers, vendors, and maintenance appointments.
  • Maintain household budgets and keep records of expenses as requested.
Childcare:
  • Provide attentive, nurturing care for children, ensuring their safety and emotional well-being at all times.
  • Coordinate children’s daily schedules, including school runs, extracurricular activities, playdates, and appointments.
  • Prepare healthy, nutritious meals and snacks for the children.
  • Assist with homework supervision and engage in educational, age-appropriate activities to support developmental milestones.
  • Maintain a clean and organized space for children’s play, study, and rest.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Experience: Proven experience in household management and professional childcare (references required).
  • Reliability: High level of integrity, discretion, and reliability.
  • Organization: Exceptional time management and multi-tasking abilities; capable of balancing domestic duties with childcare needs.
  • Communication: Fluent in English and Kiswahili, with strong interpersonal skills to interact professionally with family members and household staff.
  • Safety: Basic first aid training and knowledge of emergency procedures is an added advantage.
  • Education: Any relevant training is an added advantage.
