As we continue to grow, we’re looking for a strategic and commercially driven Head of Purchasing to lead our procurement function and ensure our business has the right products, suppliers and partnerships to support operational excellence. The Opportunity This is more than a purchasing role. You’ll shape procurement strategy, negotiate high-value supplier partnerships, optimize costs, strengthen supply continuity, and build a high-performing procurement function that supports one of Kenya’s leading food manufacturers. If you enjoy negotiating complex deals, identifying cost-saving opportunities, building strong supplier relationships and making a measurable impact on business performance, we’d love to hear from you. ### Key Responsibilities ### You’ll lead the company’s purchasing function by - Developing and implementing procurement and sourcing strategies. - Negotiating supplier contracts, pricing and commercial agreements. - Managing suppliers to ensure quality, reliability and value. - Securing uninterrupted supply of ingredients, packaging, equipment and operational materials. - Driving procurement savings while maintaining quality standards. - Leading supplier performance reviews and identifying new sourcing opportunities. - Managing tender processes and supplier evaluations. - Reducing emergency purchases, stock shortages and obsolete inventory. - Working closely with Production, Quality Assurance, Warehouse, Finance. - Monitoring procurement KPIs and preparing monthly performance reports. - Leading, coaching and developing the Purchasing Officer. - Ensuring compliance with procurement policies, governance and approval controls. We’re Looking for Someone Who Has - Bachelor’s Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business, Finance or a related field. - Professional procurement qualification (CIPS) is an added advantage. - At least 7 years’ experience in procurement or supply chain management, including leadership experience. - Experience within Food Manufacturing, FMCG, Hospitality or Retail. - Strong commercial negotiation and contract management skills. - Excellent analytical, reporting and cost management capabilities. - Experience working with Microsoft Dynamics NAV (Navision) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills. - High integrity, excellent organisational skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
