NBS Bank Plc, one of the leading commercial banks in Malawi, invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to fill the following vacant positions tenable at the Bank’s Head Office at Ginnery Corner in Blantyre.HEAD OF DIGITAL BANKINGOVERVIEWNBS Bank Plc is seeking qualified and experienced candidates for the position of Head of Digital Banking tenable at the Bank’s Head Office in Blantyre. This is a senior role in the Bank and reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer. The job holder plays a cardinal role in leading the development, growth and management of the Bank’s digital banking agenda in line with business strategy. The role is responsible for driving digital transformation, strengthening digital product performance, expanding customer acquisition and utilisation, managing strategic partnerships, and ensuring robust governance, risk and compliance across digital channels.Key ResponsibilitiesProvides strategic leadership for Digital Banking, including the development and execution of annual operating plans, digital migration priorities and growth initiatives.Drives business development, revenue growth and customer adoption across digital banking products, cards, e-commerce and alternate channels.Leads digital product innovation, lifecycle management, product deployment, performance monitoring and continuous improvement.Oversees budget planning, resource allocation, cost management and performance reporting for the Digital Banking function.Builds and manages strategic relationships with vendors, partners, associations, internal stakeholders and regulators to support digital banking growth.Champions risk management, fraud mitigation, regulatory compliance, audit closure and strong corporate governance across digital banking operations.Leads, coaches and develops a high-performing digital banking team, ensuring clear objectives, accountability and effective performance management.

Requirements

Qualifications and ExperienceMasters Degree in Banking, Finance, Computer Science, Business Management, Economics or equivalent from a recognized tertiary institution.Certification in Digital Finance will be an added advantage.At least 8 years experience in a Digital Finance environment, Banking, finance or related environment, with a minimum of 4 years in a senior management role.Membership of a relevant professional body such as the Digital Finance Institute or ICTAM membership will be an added advantage.Desired CompetenciesStrategic leadership and people management acumen.Strong business acumen, financial analysis and commercial judgement.Digital banking, product management and customer relationship management capability.Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills.Strong planning, problem-solving and execution disciplineAbility to operate effectively in a regulated banking environment.Application ProcedureQualified and interested candidates should send their application letters, updated CVs with three traceable referees and copies of certificates to: recruitment@nbs.mw, with job title clearly marked in the subject line.Applications deadline: 14th August, 2026.
