## Job Description

Health & Safety Jobs,  FullCare Jobs. Responsible for implementing environmental, health, safety, and security procedures, conducting workplace inspections and risk assessments, investigating incidents, monitoring PPE use, supporting emergency response, and ensuring compliance with safety requirements. Requires a relevant Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, Environmental Science, or a related field. The position is based in Ruiru and requires on-site work.

The role will be responsible for ensuring high standards of Environmental, Health, Safety and Social (EHSS) within the company. The EHSS Officer will identify workplace hazards, assess and control risks, ensure compliance with applicable occupational health and safety legislation, maintain required documentation, support emergency preparedness, and provide guidance to management and employees on health and safety matters.

### Key Responsibilities

- Identify workplace hazards and assess risks to employee health and safety, implementing appropriate control measures to prevent accidents and occupational health risks.

- Develop, implement and maintain health and safety policies and procedures in accordance with applicable legislation, company requirements and SOPs.

- Provide advice and guidance to management and employees on occupational health, workplace safety, accident prevention and other EHSS-related matters.

- Conduct regular workplace safety inspections and monitor compliance with health and safety requirements, policies and procedures.

- Evaluate workplace risks and hazards and ensure appropriate measures are implemented for their elimination, reduction and ongoing monitoring.

- Ensure emergency preparedness by supporting the development, implementation and regular review of emergency response procedures and arrangements.

- Ensure compliance with applicable workplace health and safety legislation and requirements from DOSH, labour authorities and other relevant government agencies.

- Maintain proper EHSS documentation, records, reports and permits as required by law, company policies and SOPs.

- Ensure all relevant company licences, certificates and statutory documents are properly displayed and available for inspection by government authorities.

- Work closely with other departments and factory staff to promote a strong health and safety culture and ensure adherence to workplace safety standards.

- Support investigations of workplace accidents, incidents and unsafe conditions and recommend appropriate corrective and preventive actions.

- Conduct or support health and safety awareness, training and communication programmes for employees.

- Keep updated on changes in occupational health and safety legislation, DOSH requirements and other relevant labour and workplace regulations.

- Perform any other EHSS-related duties assigned by the supervisor or management.

Qualifications

- Diploma or degree in Environmental, Occupational Health and Safety, or any other related field.

- At least 3 years of proven work experience as a Health and Safety Officer or in a similar EHSS role preferably manufacturing industry.

- Good knowledge of occupational health and safety laws, policies and workplace safety practices.

- Good awareness of DOSH requirements and labour regulations.

- Fluent in both written and spoken English.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

- Good problem-solving and organizational skills.

- Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.

- Ability to work with different departments and employees at all levels.

- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high workplace health and safety standards.
